On the evening of March 30th, at Gigamall Shopping Center (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City), the "30-Year Journey of the Mai Vang Awards" art gala took place, leading up to the 30th Mai Vang Awards. This event was part of the series of activities of the 2nd "Honoring Vietnamese Coffee and Tea" Festival - 2024, organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, taking place over two days, March 30th and 31st.

Former Vice President Truong My Hoa; former Central Committee member and former Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Ha; Secretary General and Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations Ho Xuan Lam; Head of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Huu Dat... attended the program.

Connecting new innovations

The Mai Vàng Awards have not only become a unique brand of the Người Lao Động Newspaper but also a major event and meeting point for those working in and passionate about culture and arts, attracting widespread public and media attention. With all that significance, the "30-Year Journey of the Mai Vàng Awards" art gala is seen as an opportunity to look back on the awards' development.

Speaking at the art gala, Mr. To Dinh Tuan - Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Head of the Steering Committee for the 2nd "Honoring Vietnamese Coffee and Tea" Festival - 2024, and Head of the Steering Committee for the 30th Mai Vang Awards - 2024 - stated that "The 30-year journey of the Mai Vang Awards" is the inaugural event of an award that has been closely associated with cultural and artistic life and a prestigious award for artists nationwide for the past three decades.

Over the past 30 years, with the trust and support of leaders and authorities at all levels, the Mai Vàng Awards have been held annually. More than 200 artists from various fields have been nominated, voted on, and awarded prizes by readers of the Người Lao Động newspaper. On behalf of the Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee of the Mai Vàng Awards, Mr. Tô Đình Tuân expressed gratitude for the trust and confidence that the numerous readers and the public have placed in the Organizing Committee, enabling them to improve and enhance the professionalism of the awards each year, so that the awards can have a strong impact on society.

Mr. To Dinh Tuan stated that, building on the achievements and fulfilling the noble mission entrusted by society, the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper and the Mai Vang Awards Organizing Committee have initiated a very meaningful program: "Mai Vang Humanitarianism" - later renamed "Mai Vang Gratitude". This program has provided timely assistance to artists facing difficult circumstances and illnesses; and has shown care, support, and given gifts to intellectuals, scientists , teachers, and medical professionals who have made significant contributions to society.

"We hope that artists and readers of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper will join us in enhancing the stature and reach of the Mai Vang Award, so that after the 30-year milestone, this award will be elevated to a higher level, creating a stronger impact to connect new creations for the country's culture and arts," Mr. To Dinh Tuan emphasized.

During the "30-Year Journey of the Mai Vàng Awards" art gala, the Organizing Committee presented commemorative plaques to 16 individuals and groups who had previously won the award.

These include People's Artist Viet Anh, Meritorious Artist and director Hoa Ha, artist Quoc Thao, fashion designer Vo Viet Chung, director Huynh Anh Tuan - Director of IDECAF Theatre, director Vo Thach Thao, actress Van Phuong, artist Hong Anh, Meritorious Artist Cong Ninh, Meritorious Artist Kim Tieu Long, Meritorious Artist Van Khanh, musician Hoai An, singer Uyen Trang, singer Ngoc Mai, The Bell group, Mat Ngoc group...

In addition, the Organizing Committee also honored and presented gifts from the "Mai Vàng Tri Ân" program to two famous artists: People's Artist Thanh Tuấn and writer Nguyễn Nhật Ánh.

People's Artist Thanh Tuan is a Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) stage artist who has been dedicated to the profession for over 50 years. Having moved from Quang Ngai to the South to pursue his career, he has been warmly received by the public and professionals alike. People's Artist Thanh Tuan has had hundreds of famous roles on stage. His performance of the famous traditional song "Remember Nha Trang" by composer Minh Thuy, presented to attendees of the 2nd "Celebrating Vietnamese Coffee and Tea" Festival in 2024 and the audience at the gala art night, received much praise.

Meanwhile, writer Nguyen Nhat Anh is one of the most successful writers of children's and young adult literature, with over 100 works in various genres. Before becoming a famous writer, he spent time teaching and writing for newspapers. Nguyen Nhat Anh's name is associated with many works that have captivated readers for generations.

At the program, many artists presented outstanding performances: Artist Thanh Hang with the traditional song "The Ideal Hut," the Mat Ngoc singing group with "Our Youth," singer Ngoc Mai with "One Round Around Vietnam," the 135 group with "My Name is Vietnam," Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam with a solo traditional song "Saigon Chorus," rapper T. One with "New Day," Meritorious Artist and singer Van Khanh with "Beloved Hue," Meritorious Artist Kim Tieu Long with "Rest Assured, Mother," singer Dinh Tung Huy with the song "Who Can Remain Faithful Forever"...

Most of the artists performing at the show are those who have been honored with the Mai Vàng Award for their contributions to the arts.

Visitors to the festival will be able to participate in a program with many activities such as enjoying free tea and coffee; a seminar on "Solutions to achieve $5 billion in Vietnamese coffee exports"; demonstrations and presentations on coffee/tea; a gala on "The 30-Year Journey of the Mai Vang Award"; and a Coffee Talk on the topic "Starting a Business with Beverages".
