Opening a path out of poverty for women.
Through various innovative approaches, women's associations at all levels in the province have become a solid support system for women in their journey of economic development and poverty reduction. These associations play a crucial role as a "bridge," helping many members and women access loans from the Social Policy Bank. Through these preferential loans, many members and women have boldly invested in production models, gradually increasing their income, raising their children, and improving their quality of life.
The story of Ms. Huynh Thi Cam Loan, residing in Vinh Hoa commune, is a vivid example of the effectiveness of policy-based capital. Years ago, her family was classified as a poor household. Ms. Loan received a 70 million VND loan from the Social Policy Bank under the employment creation program. She boldly invested in raising rabbits and guinea pigs (a type of rodent). Today, her family has escaped poverty and has a stable income. “Thanks to the preferential credit loan from the Social Policy Bank, guaranteed by the Women's Union of the commune, my family has been able to invest in livestock farming and production, thereby increasing our income,” Ms. Loan shared.
Like Ms. Loan, the family of Ms. Tran Bach Tuyet, residing in U Minh Thuong commune, benefited from access to preferential loans to invest in production and develop their economy. Ms. Tuyet said: “Thanks to the Women's Union of the commune facilitating a 50 million VND loan from the preferential credit fund of the Social Policy Bank, I improved the land for multi-cropping, planting ginger and pineapples on raised beds and raising freshwater fish in the pond. This model brings the family an average income of about 180 million VND per year.”
So that no one is left behind.
According to the Provincial Branch of the Social Policy Bank, the coordination of lending through savings and loan groups between the bank and the Provincial Women's Union simplifies procedures, saves costs and time, and creates the most favorable conditions for members and women to access preferential capital. To improve the quality of operations, the Provincial Women's Union continues to focus on vocational training and workshops for members of the savings and loan group management boards. At the same time, it strengthens the inspection and supervision of the groups' activities and checks the use of capital by borrowers...
“To improve the quality of operations of the groups, the branch continues to direct transaction offices to coordinate with grassroots Women's Union branches to further expand policy credit, prioritizing poor women, women from ethnic minorities, and women entrepreneurs; improve the quality of savings and loan groups, and strengthen the team of group leaders. Promote the integration of loan capital with vocational training, technical training, and guidance on developing production plans; coordinate support for women to connect with markets and develop production models along value chains…”, said Ms. Nguyen Thi My Nuong - Deputy Director of the Provincial Branch of the Social Policy Bank.
To further enhance the effectiveness of loan capital, all levels of associations in the province will continue to implement social policy credit effectively and with high quality, ensuring that policy credit capital reaches the intended beneficiaries, is used for the right purposes, and is fully repaid when due. At the same time, they will develop criteria for emulation in entrusted activities, coordinate the evaluation and ranking of savings and loan groups... contributing to achieving poverty reduction goals, job creation, and ensuring social security in the locality.
“In the coming time, in addition to effectively deploying entrusted capital, the association will continue to promote propaganda and encourage members to practice saving according to the operating regulations of the savings and loan group; proactively coordinate with the policy bank to organize training for staff in charge of entrusted activities and the management board of savings and loan groups on credit capital management…,” said Ms. Truong Thanh Thuy - President of the Provincial Women's Union.
| To date, loan capital from the Provincial Social Policy Bank, managed by the Provincial Women's Union, has helped more than 128,480 poor households and other policy beneficiaries access social policy credit, totaling over 4,500 billion VND. From this loan capital, the Women's Union at all levels has helped 5,234 poor and near-poor women's households achieve sustainable poverty alleviation. |
