From awareness raising to practical action
Choosing a bottle of fish sauce originating in the province instead of imported products, choosing clean rice produced in Le Thuy instead of floating packaged rice of unknown origin, prioritizing local confectionery, essential oils, OCOP products in every shopping trip... these seemingly small habits have become beautiful consumer habits in many families in Quang Binh . Ms. Dang Thi Thao Nguyen (Bac Ly ward, Dong Hoi city) shared: "In the past, I chose imported goods because I thought "foreign goods are better than domestic goods", but now it's different. Every time I shop, I prioritize choosing domestic goods, especially products from the province".
The changes in Ms. Thao Nguyen’s perception are also common changes of many women today. Behind those changes are the results of synchronous propaganda and mobilization work from the provincial to the grassroots levels. Hundreds of women’s group meetings at the grassroots level have become a bridge for Vietnamese goods to reach consumers.
The website, fanpage, and zalo of the Women's Union at all levels also regularly share reputable products and suggest ways to choose Vietnamese products with clear, safe, and suitable origins. The campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese products" is no longer just a slogan but has become a concrete action in the lives of members and women (HVPN).
Recognizing the important role of women in consumption and shopping, the association at all levels has proactively developed a propaganda plan, implemented synchronously and flexibly in many aspects. Through the fanpage system, website, zalo groups and meetings, information about high-quality Vietnamese goods and local OCOP products is cleverly integrated, easy to understand and familiar. From there, raising awareness among members about prioritizing Vietnamese goods is not only supporting domestic products but also contributing to protecting health and preserving the cultural values of Vietnamese consumption.
The Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union directed all levels of the union to focus on implementing propaganda work, actively mobilizing the Women's Union and all classes of people in the area to effectively implement the Movement in conjunction with implementing the tasks of local socio-economic development, emulation movements and key tasks of the union. Notably, the union has actively coordinated with press agencies and districts, towns and cities to promote communication work reflecting the results of the movement and typical examples in the production and consumption of Vietnamese goods.
These efforts have helped HVPN, especially women in rural and mountainous areas, to go from buying goods out of habit to being able to distinguish products with clear origins and choose goods for the benefit of the community and family. Vietnamese goods have become a familiar and close choice in the life of every HVPN family.
Supporting women to start businesses, enhancing the value of Vietnamese products
Not stopping at promoting the consumption of Vietnamese goods, the Women's Union at all levels in the province has actively implemented programs to support women in starting and running businesses. This is considered a strategic step to help women produce quality Vietnamese products that are suitable for their tastes and competitive.
Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union Nguyen Thi Hong Ha said: The Union has organized many forums and seminars, such as: "Women with business strategies in the 4.0 era", seminars on organic agriculture development, circular economy, e-commerce, etc., attracting a large number of members to participate. In particular, from 2024 to present, there have been 11 training courses on business start-up, innovation, promotion and connection of OCOP product consumption markets, and tourism services. Thanks to that, many economic models led by women have been formed and developed strongly. Up to now, the whole province has 78 cooperatives, 48 cooperative groups and 3,832 economic models managed by HVPN, of which many products have met OCOP standards, participating in fairs and exhibitions in and outside the province. Many products, such as: lemongrass essential oil, traditional shrimp paste, sesame cakes, organic vegetables, medicinal tea... have been put on the shelves of supermarkets and convenience stores, affirming the brand of local Vietnamese goods.
In the coming time, the Provincial Women's Union will continue to promote propaganda to raise awareness and provide knowledge to women about using safe food, prioritizing the use of Vietnamese goods; encourage women-owned production and business establishments to commit to producing and trading safe food, actively supporting and promoting the production and consumption of Vietnamese goods...", Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Ha emphasized. |
The activities of “Women’s Entrepreneurship Day”, “Displaying and promoting OCOP products, traditional specialties”, “Exhibition of socio-economic achievements”, “Homeland products - delicious dishes from mother’s hands”… organized by the Provincial Women’s Union have become an important bridge to help members introduce products, exchange, learn and arouse confidence and creativity in economic development.
Not only production, women also actively participate in monitoring food safety, denouncing acts of counterfeiting and imitation. The association at all levels has coordinated with the relevant authorities to inspect many establishments, promptly informing members about products that do not ensure quality, thereby guiding safe and correct consumption. Each of these small actions has contributed to protecting Vietnamese brands and creating a healthy environment for domestic products to develop.
From rural markets, training courses to far-reaching start-up models, HVPN Quang Binh is affirming its role not only in the family but also on the economic development and smart consumption front. The campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese products" therefore does not stop at a call, but has been spread by practical and effective actions of HVPNs.
