When women "prefer" Vietnamese products

(QBĐT) - As the keepers of the household finances, women are a crucial force in changing consumer habits and promoting the "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" campaign. Over the past period, women's associations at all levels in the province have implemented many practical and creative approaches to help members raise awareness, choose quality Vietnamese goods, and spread positive consumer habits to the community.

From raising awareness to taking practical action.
Choosing a bottle of fish sauce from a local source instead of an imported product, opting for clean rice produced in Le Thuy instead of packaged rice of unknown origin, prioritizing local confectionery, essential oils, and OCOP products in every shopping trip… these seemingly small habits have become a beautiful aspect of consumer behavior in many families in Quang Binh . Ms. Dang Thi Thao Nguyen (Bac Ly ward, Dong Hoi city) shared: “Previously, I chose imported goods because I thought ‘foreign goods are better than domestic goods,’ but now it’s different. Every time I shop, I prioritize domestic products, especially those from the province.”
The changes in Ms. Thao Nguyen's awareness are also common changes among many women today. Behind these changes is the result of coordinated propaganda and mobilization efforts from the provincial level to the grassroots. Hundreds of women's group meetings at the grassroots level have become a bridge connecting Vietnamese products to consumers.
The websites, fanpages, and Zalo accounts of the Women's Union at all levels regularly share information about reputable products and suggest ways to choose Vietnamese goods with clear origins, safety, and suitability. The campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" is no longer just an empty slogan but has become a concrete action in the lives of its members and women.

Recognizing the crucial role of women in consumption and shopping, women's associations at all levels have proactively developed and implemented comprehensive and flexible communication plans across various channels. Through fanpages, websites, Zalo groups, and community meetings, information about high-quality Vietnamese goods and local OCOP products is cleverly and easily integrated into the communication process. This has raised awareness among members about prioritizing Vietnamese products, not only supporting domestic goods but also contributing to health protection and preserving the cultural values of Vietnamese consumption.
The Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union directed all levels of the Union to focus on implementing propaganda work and actively mobilizing Women's Union members and all strata of people in the area to effectively carry out the campaign in conjunction with the implementation of the local socio -economic development tasks, emulation movements, and key tasks of the Union. Notably, the Union has actively coordinated with press agencies and districts, towns, and cities to promote communication reflecting the results of the movement and exemplary cases in the production and consumption of Vietnamese goods.
These efforts have helped Vietnamese women, especially rural and mountainous women, to move from buying goods out of habit to being able to distinguish products with clear origins and choose goods that benefit the community and their families. Vietnamese goods have become a familiar and close choice in the lives of every Vietnamese woman's family.
Supporting women entrepreneurs and enhancing the value of Vietnamese products.
Beyond promoting the consumption of Vietnamese goods, women's associations at all levels in the province have actively implemented programs to support women in starting businesses. This is considered a strategic step to help women produce high-quality Vietnamese products that suit consumer tastes and are competitive.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Ha, Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union, the Union has organized many forums and seminars, such as "Women and Business Strategies in the 4.0 Era," workshops on organic agriculture development, circular economy, and e-commerce, attracting a large number of members. In particular, from 2024 to the present, 11 training courses on business startup, innovation, promotion and market connection for OCOP products, and tourism have been implemented. As a result, many women-owned economic models have been formed and developed strongly. To date, the province has 78 cooperatives, 48 cooperative groups, and 3,832 economic models managed by the Women's Union, many of which have achieved OCOP standards and participated in fairs and exhibitions inside and outside the province. Many products, such as lemongrass essential oil, traditional shrimp paste, sesame seed cakes, organic vegetables, and herbal teas, have appeared on supermarket and convenience store shelves, affirming the brand of local Vietnamese goods.
"In the coming time, the Provincial Women's Union will continue to promote propaganda to raise awareness and provide knowledge to its members on the use of safe food, prioritizing the use of Vietnamese goods; encourage its members and women-owned production and business establishments to commit to producing and trading safe food, actively supporting and promoting the production and consumption of Vietnamese goods...", Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Ha emphasized.

Activities such as "Women's Entrepreneurship Day," "Exhibition and Promotion of OCOP Products and Traditional Specialties," "Exhibition of Socio-Economic Achievements," and "Homeland Products - Delicious Dishes from Mom's Hands," organized by the Provincial Women's Union, have become important bridges helping members introduce their products, exchange ideas, learn from each other, and inspire confidence and creativity in economic development.

Beyond production, women actively participate in monitoring food safety and reporting counterfeit and imitation products. Women's associations at all levels have coordinated with relevant authorities to inspect numerous establishments, promptly informing members about substandard products, thereby guiding safe and informed consumption. Each of these small actions contributes to protecting Vietnamese brands and creating a healthy environment for domestic products to thrive.
From rural markets and training courses to successful startup models, the Women's Union of Quang Binh is affirming its role not only within families but also on the front lines of economic development and smart consumption. The campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" is therefore not just a call to action, but has been spread through practical and effective actions by the Women's Union members.
