According to preliminary statistics from the Quang Ngai Provincial Department of Education and Training, more than 600 students, children of officials from Kon Tum province, have registered to study in Quang Ngai after the merger.
Most parents with children attending primary and secondary school have enrolled them in schools located in Nguyen Nghiem and Tran Hung Dao wards, which are central wards in Quang Ngai city. This has led to difficulties in allocating classrooms for these students.

Recently, the primary and secondary schools in Nguyen Nghiem and Tran Hung Dao wards have been experiencing a surge in enrollment for the first grade. Parents in Quang Ngai city all want their children to attend these central schools. This has led to overcrowding in the schools, with very high class sizes.
Therefore, the influx of more students enrolling in these schools will create significant challenges for the local education system.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thai, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai province, said that resolving the issue of providing learning spaces for Kon Tum students at the preschool or junior high school level does not pose many difficulties.
For primary and lower secondary education, most officials in Kon Tum register their children to attend schools in Nguyen Nghiem and Tran Hung Dao wards. This leads to difficulties in student allocation.
"We are currently compiling accurate statistics on the number of students in Kon Tum province, and then we will work with local authorities to find suitable solutions for allocating schools and classrooms for them," Mr. Thai said.
Quang Ngai province and Kon Tum province merged and took the name Quang Ngai province. The new Quang Ngai province has an area of over 14,800 km2, a population of nearly 2.2 million people, and 96 subordinate administrative units.
The political and administrative center of Quang Ngai province after the merger will be located in the present-day Quang Ngai province.
Following the merger, approximately 1,000 officials from Kon Tum province transferred to work at the new Quang Ngai Provincial Administrative Center.
