A Zimbabwean minister said on September 25 that Zimbabwe is seeking to attract more Chinese tourists , particularly during the Spring Festival.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of World Tourism Day (September 27), Zimbabwe's Minister of Tourism and Hospitality, Barbara Rwodzi, said: “China is becoming an important source market for Zimbabwe, and we expect a surge in tourist numbers as we head into the festive season.”
This year, Zimbabwe is hoping to attract more Chinese tourists at the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Travel Fair – an annual event aimed at promoting the tourism potential of this Southern African nation.
The trade fair, held in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe's second-largest city, from October 12-14, will attract domestic and international exhibitors, industry professionals, and visitors interested in exploring Zimbabwe's unique attractions and investment opportunities.

The tourism sector is of strategic importance to the Zimbabwean economy through foreign exchange earnings and job creation.
This nation of 16.5 million people boasts a range of world-class tourist attractions, including Victoria Falls, one of the natural wonders of the world. Zimbabwe also has diverse wildlife resources, including the world's second-largest elephant population.
According to the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, the total number of tourists increased by 50% to approximately 530,000 in the first half of 2023, and tourism revenue increased by 16% to $343.1 million compared to the same period last year.
