Commencement of the project to renovate low-income areas - traffic category

On the morning of May 8, in Dong Luong Ward, the People's Committee of Dong Ha City held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project on Renovation of Low-Income Areas (LIA) - a transport item under the Central Coastal Urban Development towards green growth and climate change response in Dong Ha City (referred to as the Project). Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam; Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Vietnam Hervé Conan attended.

The project is invested by Dong Ha City People's Committee, sponsored by AFD, and will be implemented in 4 years from 2024 to 2027 with a total investment of more than 1,152 billion VND. Of which, the project to renovate low-income areas - traffic item is the first item to be deployed, with a scale of renovating 67 roads, total length of 16,494m, cross-section from 5 - 10m, asphalt concrete road surface, total contract value of more than 111.4 billion VND.

The project is being constructed by a joint venture between Quang Tri General Construction Joint Stock Company and Quang Tri Traffic Construction and Management Joint Stock Company. Expected completion in October 2027.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman of Dong Ha City People's Committee Ho Sy Trung emphasized: The groundbreaking of the project on Renovation of low-income areas - a traffic item under the Project has practical significance, contributing to realizing the goal of building Dong Ha City into a green city, effectively adapting to climate change, in line with the city's master plan until 2045. After completion, the project will improve living conditions, connect infrastructure, and ensure traffic safety for people in the city.

The City People's Committee will continue to direct the AFD Project Management Board and related units to strictly implement regulations on construction investment, ensuring quality, progress and labor safety. At the same time, regularly monitor, inspect and promptly remove obstacles during the construction process, minimizing impacts on the lives and environment of residential areas.

Dong Ha City hopes to continue receiving the companionship, supervision and support of the People, agencies and units so that the project can be completed on schedule, contributing to building a green, clean, beautiful and sustainable city.
