On April 15th, Hanoi Radio and Television officially announced a special film project titled "Legendary Love of Da Trach," scheduled for completion and release in December 2025.

Inspired by the legend of Chu Dong Tu – one of the Four Immortals of Vietnam (along with Tan Vien Son Thanh, Phu Dong Thien Vuong, and Saint Mother Lieu Hanh), the film "Legend of Da Trach" recounts one of the most beautiful love stories in the treasure trove of Vietnamese folklore: the love story of Princess Tien Dung and the poor young man Chu Dong Tu.

Their love is also a symbol of the pioneering spirit and aspiration for prosperity of the ancient Vietnamese people. The film also depicts the journey from the dawn of civilization of the ancient Vietnamese community, the creation and protection of living spaces and the development of the inhabitants of the Northern Delta, in which Chu Dong Tu is also considered the patron saint of commerce, playing a major role in leading the people of the Northern Delta region.

According to information from Hanoi Radio and Television, the film is a harmonious combination of folk legends about Chu Dong Tu and Tien Dung and historical and cultural elements, creating an epic about the transformation of the ancient Vietnamese people, about one of the Vietnamese saints in a real land - Da Trach swamp, which is Khoai Chau, Hung Yen today.

The film will recreate a living space of ancient Vietnamese people, focusing on the Van Lang period and pre-Dong Son cultural elements such as rituals and cultural components believed to be prevalent at that time, including tattooing, folk beliefs, and handicrafts such as bronze casting, weapon making, shipbuilding, pottery, agriculture, and irrigation. It will also depict the Da Trach trading port as a model of early waterway trade , laying the foundation for the development of commerce among ancient Vietnamese people.

Starting in April 2025, the film crew will begin casting. Filming is scheduled to begin in July 2025 at various locations in Northern Vietnam. Notably, the film's settings are expected to be meticulously and realistically constructed and preserved in their original state after completion, becoming cultural and tourist attractions serving the community and visitors. This will be a cultural destination contributing to the dissemination of Vietnamese cultural values.

Hanoi Radio and Television Station affirms that this is not just a film project, but also a concrete action contributing to the realization of the cultural industry development strategy as directed by the Central Government and Hanoi City.
