These days, production facilities, shopping centers, and businesses throughout the province have proactively secured supplies, providing the market with various types of mooncakes, food, beverages, toys, etc., to meet the shopping needs of people during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Vi Thu grocery store in Hoang Xa commune, Thanh Thuy district, sells many brands of mooncakes to serve the shopping needs of the local people.

From around mid-July in the lunar calendar, along the streets of Viet Tri city, stalls selling mooncakes from brands such as Kinh Do, Bibica, Huu Nghi, etc., have been set up in prime, densely populated locations to promote, introduce, and sell their products to customers who want to enjoy the mooncakes early or buy them as gifts.

With baked and glutinous rice mooncakes being the main offerings, this year's mooncakes feature innovative fillings. Besides traditional fillings like mixed nuts and mung bean paste, many brands have introduced attractive new flavors such as: roasted chicken, runny egg yolk, Chinese sausage, abalone... and some less sweet options with fillings made from various nuts: lotus seeds, chia seeds, almonds, black sesame, melon seeds... catering to vegetarians and those on a diet.

According to some stall owners, this year's mooncakes come in a variety of designs, flavors, and qualities, but the prices remain relatively stable compared to last year. Each mooncake costs between 55,000 and 95,000 VND, with weights ranging from 180g, 230g, 250g, 300g, etc. High-end products can cost from several hundred thousand to millions of VND per box of four.

Besides stalls with their own brands, supermarkets and grocery stores throughout the province have also started stocking mooncakes. For example, Co.opmart Viet Tri supermarket has arranged a separate display area for mooncakes near the entrance so that customers can easily see and choose them.

Mr. Ngo Duy Hien, Deputy Director of Coop.mart Supermarket, said: "Since mid-July of the lunar calendar, the supermarket has been selling Kinh Do brand mooncakes with various fillings such as red bean, mung bean with almond, mung bean with melon seeds, etc., priced from 65,000 to 79,000 VND per piece, weighing 150g and 230g. In addition to mooncakes, the supermarket has also added many other confectionery items, soft drinks, and regional fruits to serve customers' shopping needs during the Mid-Autumn Festival."

Besides well-known Mid-Autumn Festival brands, traditional mooncake producers in the province such as Ta Quyet, Kim Lien, Thu Thuy, Tuan Anh... in Au Co ward, Phu Tho town are also busy preparing goods and starting to accept orders for this year's Mid-Autumn Festival.

Ms. Nguyen Kim Lien, owner of Kim Lien mooncake production facility in Phu Tho town, said: "The consumption of mooncakes will increase significantly from around the beginning of August in the lunar calendar, especially from August 10th to 14th in the lunar calendar. The retail market for this item will be very bustling because people often have the mentality of buying mooncakes closer to the date."

Along with the diverse mooncake market, children's toys are also in high demand during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Besides traditional toys like star-shaped lanterns, carp-shaped lanterns, and masks, shops are also stocking many new items, especially handcrafted toys made from paper and bamboo, known for their safety and attractive designs, to cater to young customers. Prices for these toys range from 20,000 to 100,000 VND per item, showing little difference compared to previous years.

Comrade Ha Thanh Binh - Deputy Director of the Provincial Market Management Department, said: As the standing agency of the Steering Committee for Combating Smuggling, Commercial Fraud, and Counterfeit Goods (Steering Committee 389), the Provincial Market Management Department strengthens coordination with relevant agencies and members of the Steering Committee 389 at the provincial, district, and city levels to inspect the implementation of legal regulations on essential goods for production and consumption by the people.

Particularly during the Mid-Autumn Festival, the demand for mooncakes and other goods increases significantly, especially as the full moon approaches. Market management forces focus on closely monitoring the supply and demand situation; inspecting and controlling the origin, source, invoices, labels, and conformity certificates for items such as mooncakes, food, beverages, confectionery, and children's toys; and strictly handling violations according to the law. At the same time, they intensify the dissemination of legal policies to businesses and individuals, requiring business owners to sign commitments not to trade in counterfeit goods, substandard goods, goods of unknown origin, or smuggled goods.
