In Luong Van Tri ward, starting from the 6th day of the first lunar month, people have been heading to the fields to prepare the land, dredge canals, and get ready for planting spring crops. In the fields of Quang Trung 3 block, farmers are busily clearing weeds, preparing the soil, and fertilizing the plants. The fields have been thoroughly plowed, the soil is loose and porous, ready for planting.
Ms. Lam Thi Thom, from Quang Trung 3 block, Luong Van Tri ward, said: "This season, my family planted 2 sao (approximately 0.2 hectares) of corn and transplanted 5 sao (approximately 0.5 hectares) of rice. To ensure production is on schedule, starting from the 6th, my family went to the fields to plow and clean the land. By this time, we have prepared all the seeds and finished preparing the soil to start planting corn and are ready to sow the spring rice seedlings."
Not only in Luong Van Tri ward, but also in the fields of Na Va village, Ba Son commune, farmers are urgently planting peanuts. Mr. Tran Van Mien, Party Secretary and Head of Na Va village, Ba Son commune, said: This spring, the entire village is planting more than 30 hectares of various crops. This year, the weather is favorable, so from the 4th day of Tet (Lunar New Year), farmers have been busy cleaning their fields and preparing the land for early planting of corn and peanuts, with the expectation of sowing seedlings by the end of January. At this time, people in the village have planted about 6 hectares of peanuts. In recent years, farmers have used various types of agricultural mechanization, making farming much easier than before.
According to statistics from the People's Committee of Ba Son commune, in the spring of 2026, the entire commune aims to plant approximately 437 hectares, mainly rice, corn, and some other crops. Even before Tet (Lunar New Year), the commune directed villages to review the planted area, prepare seeds and supplies, and dredge the irrigation canal system to ensure water supply. Mr. Hoang Van Dieu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Son commune, said: Recognizing agricultural production as one of the important factors contributing to the construction of new rural areas, the People's Committee of the commune developed a specific plan for the spring crop from the beginning of the year, focusing on disseminating information to encourage farmers to plant in the fields according to the correct timeframe; coordinating with specialized agencies to organize guidance on the safe and effective use of fertilizers and pesticides. At the same time, the commune continues to encourage people to switch to suitable crop structures that yield high productivity.
Not only in the two aforementioned areas, but farmers in other communes and wards throughout the province are also enthusiastically working and preparing for the spring crop. For the 2026 spring crop, the entire province plans to plant approximately 41,900 hectares of various crops. The main crop structure includes: rice (about 15,000 hectares), corn (14,000 hectares), various vegetables (6,000 hectares), and chili peppers (1,800 hectares)... To ensure a suitable planting schedule and crop variety structure, from the beginning of the season, the provincial agricultural sector has issued guiding documents on crop varieties, planting seasons, cultivation techniques, and plans to respond to cold weather and severe frost, while also focusing on preparing agricultural supplies and emphasizing irrigation work.
To date, agricultural supply units in the province have stockpiled over 12,000 tons of fertilizer and 600 tons of various seeds to ensure they meet the production needs of the people. Irrigation system management units regularly review, inspect, and regulate water appropriately to ensure sufficient water for the spring crop. Currently, people have planted approximately 6,000 hectares, an increase of 16.7% compared to the same period last year.
At this time of year, across the fields, the sounds of plows blend with the lively laughter and chatter, creating not only a bustling scene of labor and hope for a successful and bountiful harvest year, but also fostering a vibrant spirit of competition, strengthening community bonds, increasing income, and contributing to the development of a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized new rural area.
