Starting a business requires someone who understands you.
Looking back on the journey of building Alpha Amin Production - Trading Company Limited (Binh Hang Trung commune, Dong Thap province), Mr. Nguyen Trung Tinh (35 years old) and his wife, Ms. Le Thi Kim Thoa (31 years old), believe that the biggest advantage when starting a business together is mutual understanding and solidarity.
According to Mr. Tinh, the aquaculture sector always faces many pressures. These include challenges related to production techniques, market fluctuations, disease risks, and unpredictable weather. During the most difficult periods, having a partner who is also your spouse helps you both share the pressure and work towards a common goal.

"We can communicate with each other anytime, work together to find solutions to problems, and always have someone by our side during the most challenging times," Tinh shared.
Thanks to that support, Alpha Amin, from a young startup enterprise, has gradually established its position in the seafood industry. Recently, the company was awarded the Silver Award for Gold Quality in Vietnam's Seafood Industry by the Vietnam Fisheries Association in April 2026.
Sharing the same sentiment, Mr. Ngo Hung Vu (33 years old), Deputy Director of Kim Phat High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative (An Thanh Thuy commune, Dong Thap province), believes that the greatest value of a couple starting a business together lies in mutual understanding. "Starting a business isn't always easy; sometimes there's a lack of capital, pressure on personnel, market fluctuations, or project difficulties. Fortunately, my wife (Ms. Bui Thi Kim Thanh, 34 years old, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Cooperative) and I are on the same journey, so we understand each other's pressures, concerns, and dreams," Mr. Vu said.

For Mr. Ho Thanh Long (34 years old), Director of Cang Long VL Seafood Company Limited (Binh Phuoc commune, Vinh Long province ), the companionship of his life partner holds an even more special meaning. "During difficult times at work, we are not only colleagues but also each other's emotional support. When we succeed, the joy is doubled because we both worked hard and made sacrifices to achieve those results," he shared. Mr. Long's wife is Ms. Cao Thi Thanh Tho (35 years old), Deputy Director of the company.
Differences are not obstacles.
In fact, all three couples mentioned above acknowledge that disagreements are inevitable. Mr. Tinh and Ms. Thoa see differences as necessary to gain more perspectives before making decisions. "We always agree to discuss based on data, production realities, and the long-term interests of the business, rather than defending personal opinions," Ms. Thoa said.
According to Ms. Thoa, everyone presented their opinions fully, analyzing the advantages, limitations, and impacts of each option. When the ultimate goal is the development of the business, finding common ground becomes easier.
A similar approach is also applied at Kim Phat High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative. Mr. Vu said that his wife, a biotechnology engineer, often views problems from a technical, data-driven, and feasibility perspective. Meanwhile, he focuses on management, external relations, and market development. "There are times when our viewpoints are completely different. But our principle is not to try to win arguments, but to find the best solution for the collective," Mr. Vu said, adding that many important decisions of the cooperative have been formed from lengthy debates between him and his wife.
For Mr. Long and Ms. Tho, the secret lies in prioritizing the company's interests over personal ego. According to Ms. Tho, differences are not barriers but rather help the company gain a more multifaceted perspective before making important decisions.

Mr. Tinh believes that one of the reasons many family businesses fail is overlapping responsibilities. Therefore, it is necessary to clearly define roles from the outset. "Once there is a clear division of labor, each person has the right to be proactive in their area but still communicates regularly to ensure synchronized operation," Mr. Tinh said.
At Kim Phat High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative, Ms. Thanh is in charge of production management and technological process research, while Mr. Vu focuses on development orientation, partner networking, and project development. "Each person is responsible for a specific area and respects each other's expertise. Once a task is assigned, the other person avoids excessive interference," Mr. Vu shared.
Long said that from the very beginning of their business, he and his wife determined that for the company to develop sustainably, they had to assign specific tasks. Each person in charge of a particular area would have the autonomy to make decisions within that area and be accountable for the results. "This significantly reduces overlap and avoids unnecessary conflicts," Long said.
