Unleash creativity

Government Resolution No. 86/NQ-CP on the National Strategy for Innovative Startups is identified as one of the important driving forces for economic development in the new period. In Tuyen Quang, instead of implementing it in a campaign-oriented manner, many localities are choosing a practical approach, leveraging existing advantages to form suitable startup models.

Good practices from the grassroots level.

Innovative startups in Tuyen Quang province are gradually being realized through various models that are close to daily life, leveraging the cultural identity, agricultural products, and natural advantages of each locality to create new value. While previously, entrepreneurship was often understood as building large businesses or investing in modern technology, now, in many rural areas, people have learned to start with the simplest things, such as a livestream sales session, a video promoting local culture, or reprocessing traditional products to reach a wider market. This shift in mindset has opened up new directions for the local economy .

In Binh An commune, many young people have boldly utilized digital platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook to promote the life, culture, and specialties of their hometown. Currently, the entire commune has over 50 TikTok and YouTube channels that regularly post videos about life in the highlands, customs, ethnic cuisine, and the labor and production activities of the people. These videos, with their simple, authentic, and relatable content, have attracted hundreds of thousands of views, creating a positive ripple effect on social media.

Besides promoting the local image, many channels have also become a "bridge" for selling agricultural products for local people. Through short videos, products such as tea, forest honey, dried bamboo shoots, smoked pork, and local sticky rice have become known to many customers inside and outside the province, leading to regular orders.

In Hoang Su Phi commune, innovative entrepreneurship is being realized through the cultivation of ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees – a crop with a long history among the highland people. The commune currently has over 4,000 hectares of ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees. Previously, people mainly sold raw tea at low prices, but now many cooperatives have proactively changed their production mindset, focusing on brand building, improving processing quality, and applying digital platforms to reach customers. Instead of selling raw tea at around 80,000 VND/kg, many finished tea products are now sold for 500,000 - 700,000 VND/kg thanks to investments in packaging, branding, and digital promotion.

Cooperative members actively build fan pages and create videos showcasing the traditional tea harvesting and processing methods, as well as images of centuries-old tea trees nestled in the high mountains. Many videos capturing scenes of locals climbing trees to pick tea in the early morning mist, processing tea manually, or enjoying tea amidst the mountain scenery have attracted significant attention. Beyond simply selling products, some cooperatives have combined this with developing experiential tourism, such as visiting ancient tea plantations, harvesting and processing tea manually, enjoying tea, and learning about local culture. This approach not only enhances the value of Shan Tuyet tea but also creates jobs and increases income for local people.

Synchronized implementation

Tuyen Quang province recognizes that innovative entrepreneurship is not just about technology companies, but must begin with the unique, potential, and advantageous products of each locality. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has issued a directive to departments, agencies, localities, and the business community to implement the Strategy for the Development of Science, Technology, and Innovation until 2030. Accordingly, implementation is required to be practical, with concrete products, high applicability, and a strong connection to businesses and data.

A new trend in the current implementation of innovative startups is focusing on supporting individuals, cooperatives, and small businesses in applying digital technology to production, promotion, and product consumption, rather than just relying on promotional activities. According to Mr. Tran Kim Ngoc, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology: In the coming time, the province will continue to support training programs, improve digital skills, promote innovation, and replicate digital transformation models linked to the development of cultural tourism and the economy, contributing to the province's growth targets.

Local authorities are also required to review and adjust ongoing programs and projects to ensure there is no overlap or duplication; and to clearly define targets and results for easier monitoring and evaluation. The province prioritizes supporting models applying digital transformation in agriculture, community tourism, e-commerce, and the development of OCOP products. In localities, the most important thing in implementing innovative startups today is a change in mindset.

Instead of relying on external support, many young people, cooperatives, and production households have proactively sought new directions, exploiting local strengths to create added value. From tourism promotional videos in Lam Binh to the story of Shan Tuyet tea in Hoang Su Phi, it shows that creative entrepreneurship is not something too far-fetched but can begin in everyday life, with familiar products and new methods of the local people.
