The numbers speak for themselves.

Leveraging the potential and strengths of the locality, Nam Giang focuses on investing in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, especially grain crops and fruit trees, thus increasing the productivity and output of grain crops compared to 2023.

In addition, the district has implemented 25 production linkage projects along the value chain; a typical example is the project providing 1,777 head of cattle, deer, and pigs to 725 beneficiary households.

Through various solutions, the production value of the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector reached approximately 355 billion VND (achieving 109.13% of the plan), an increase of 12.2% compared to 2023. The new rural development program also showed positive signs, with two villages achieving model new rural standards and two communes achieving new rural standards (Ta Bhing commune and La Deee commune).

According to Mr. A Viet Son, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Giang District, the locality has directed the strengthening and effective implementation of policies and guidelines to support businesses in recovering and developing production. As a result, industrial production continues to be maintained and promoted, positively impacting and contributing to economic stability.

According to statistics, the total value of industrial and construction production in 2024 is approximately 4,213 billion VND (reaching 116.45% of the plan), an increase of 26.25% compared to 2023.

Trade and services have seen positive developments. The district successfully organized two "Night Market" events with over 72 stalls from within and outside Nam Giang participating, showcasing more than 500 items and products, attracting tourists and consumers to visit and shop. By the end of 2024, the total value of production in the service and trade sector reached 738 billion VND (achieving 108.21% of the plan), an increase of 21.38% compared to 2023.

One notable achievement is the state budget revenue. The District People's Committee reported that total domestic revenue in 2024 exceeded 357 billion VND, reaching 110% of the district's projected target and increasing by 4.24% compared to 2023.

As a mountainous locality, Nam Giang pays great attention to the management, protection, and development of forests. In 2024, functional agencies organized 115 village meetings with 6,264 participants, and carried out 290 mobile propaganda campaigns and broadcasts on commune and district television and radio stations.

The organization facilitated the signing of commitments by over 5,584 households regarding forest management and protection, and forest fire prevention and control. In addition, local authorities at the commune level launched campaigns to plant 498.24 hectares of forest (achieving 166.08% of the target).

To focus on poverty reduction, Nam Giang has integrated various resources to eliminate temporary housing, provide vocational training, create livelihoods, and implement many other important policies and support measures. In 2024, the entire district had 693 households lifted out of poverty. According to the provincial target, Nam Giang exceeded it by 333 households (reaching 192.5%); and exceeded the target set by the District People's Council Resolution by 303 households (reaching 177.6%).

Implementing central and provincial decisions and resolutions, the entire district eliminated 787 temporary and dilapidated houses last year (757 new houses were built, and 30 houses were repaired). Notably, the locality raised over 2 billion VND through propaganda and fundraising to support the elimination of temporary houses, and this amount is expected to be allocated to 33 houses.

Striving for higher growth

Regarding the main tasks of socio-economic development and ensuring security and defense in 2025, Mr. A Viet Son stated that, based on the goals and targets set forth in the Resolution of the 20th Congress of the Nam Giang District Party Committee (2020-2025 term) and building on the achievements of 2024, the district strives to basically complete and achieve the targets of the congress resolution in 2025.

First and foremost, Nam Giang continues to effectively implement three breakthrough tasks. These include mobilizing all resources and diversifying investment forms to develop agriculture and forestry in conjunction with building new rural areas and achieving sustainable poverty reduction.

Timely application of provincial and district-level policies and mechanisms to support production development, as well as funding from the three national target programs, along with value chains that guarantee the purchase of output products from farmers.

Investing in and applying information technology, promoting digital transformation and modernizing the administrative system. Improving the quality of human resources to meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation; considering vocational training as an important task, contributing to socio-economic development, poverty reduction, and the construction of new rural areas.

To ensure that construction projects are completed on time and put into use to serve economic development, social welfare, and other important goals, Mr. A Viet Son shared that the district focuses on directing and managing investment capital sources, accelerating the progress of compensation, land clearance, and resettlement, especially for the three national target programs and investment promotion activities. The district continues to attract investment to the Hoa village industrial cluster.

In addition, the district prioritizes preserving and promoting the valuable traditional culture of ethnic minorities in conjunction with tourism development. It effectively utilizes cultural values, beautiful natural landscapes, livable villages, and unique cuisine in sustainable tourism development, creating income for the local people.

In the socio-cultural field, Nam Giang will prioritize resources for building schools that meet national standards at levels 1 and 2; and promote literacy eradication. It will also strengthen the number of doctors at the commune level and ensure an adequate supply of medicines and necessary equipment for medical examination and treatment.

Improve the quality of cultural activities, information, radio, television broadcasting, and state management of culture and cultural services; deepen the "All People Unite to Build a Culturally Rich Life" movement. Strengthen national defense and security; and at the same time, effectively carry out foreign relations with Dak Chung and Ka Lum districts (Sekong province, Laos).

In 2025, Nam Giang district aims to achieve a total production value of 377 billion VND in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries; 4,924 billion VND in industry and construction; and 852 billion VND in services and trade. The total area for annual crop cultivation will be 6,015 hectares. Total domestic revenue in the district will reach 282.7 billion VND. The number of poor households will be reduced by 457, equivalent to a 6% reduction. The percentage of communes meeting the standards for universal education at the lower secondary, primary, and preschool levels will reach 100%; one new school will be built to national standards; and 100% of the population will participate in health insurance. The goal is for one commune to achieve the new rural standard...
