Maria Sharapova built her huge fortune through business. |
Sharapova has just launched a collection of modern office furniture. This is not the first time the former world number one tennis player has tried her hand in this field. In 2021, a year after retiring, she collaborated with Rove Concepts to launch the Maria Collection.
This time around, Sharapova focuses on designs specifically for modern office spaces, aiming to change the monotony of traditional conference room tables and chairs.
"I wanted to create a more modern version of the boardroom," Sharapova told Architectural Digest . "After five years of retirement, I've been in a lot of boardrooms, and to be honest, they're not the most impressively designed."
Sharapova's bold moves off the court have helped her build a fortune estimated at £130m, and she has just made headlines by putting her lavish mansion up for sale for £18.5m.
Sharapova retired in 2020, at the age of 32, after winning five Grand Slam titles. However, her career was severely affected by a doping conviction in 2017, which caused her to drop to 373rd in the world.
Despite her career setbacks, Sharapova has proven herself to be a great star. She knows how to continue to shine in the business world.
