Every Sunday, the Bac Ha market takes place. People flock to Bac Ha town to attend the market, offering a wide variety of goods. The market is primarily a place for exchange and trade among ethnic minority people from nearby villages and hamlets. At the Bac Ha market, you can find unique ethnic products, as well as enjoy local specialties such as thang co (a traditional stew), corn wine, rice wine, or tam thất flower tea…
If you have the chance to view the market from above, you will be amazed by its unique beauty. The vibrant colors of the ethnic people's costumes stand out across the area, like a blooming flower garden. In the old days, the market was held on a gentle hillside. But today, the market has been built in a more spacious and organized manner, divided into four areas: a section selling brocade; a section selling general merchandise and jewelry; a section selling livestock; and a food section. Among these, the most bustling are the brocade stalls and the food area, which are always crowded with people coming and going.

If you've visited Bac Ha market, you certainly can't miss Thang Co, considered the most famous dish there. Thang Co, also known as Khau Tha, means "meat soup," and is made from various types of meat, but horse meat is the best. The meat is marinated with traditional spices such as cardamom, galangal, and salt, then stir-fried in a large pan. The meat is simmered for many hours until tender, blending with the spices to create an intoxicating and appealing aroma.
Today, despite the rapid trend of commercialization, Bac Ha market still retains the unique cultural characteristics of the ethnic minorities in the Northwest region. As a result, the market always attracts a large number of tourists who come to visit and explore .
