New economic zone in Loi Bac

- Exploiting the potential and strengths of the land and climate, in recent years, some businesses and people in Loi Bac commune have proactively invested in and developed macadamia nut cultivation models, opening up prospects for economic development, helping people increase their income and gradually become wealthy.

Macadamia is a perennial industrial crop that yields high economic value. Due to its economic benefits and suitability to the climate and soil conditions, several businesses and households in Loi Bac commune have developed macadamia cultivation.

As one of the pioneering businesses in introducing macadamia nut cultivation, Duc Nga Agricultural and Forestry Company Limited has successfully built a model, creating jobs for many workers. Mr. Dao Huu Duc, the company's director, said: In 2020, the company researched and invested in planting 12,600 trees (equivalent to 36 hectares). By 2025, the macadamia orchard will yield its first harvest with a production of approximately 20 tons of fresh fruit, bringing in a profit of over 1.5 billion VND. Currently, the company is providing seasonal employment for about 30 workers. In the future, the company plans to expand further by 100-200 hectares.

Not only large businesses, but also some households in Loi Bac commune have boldly invested in planting macadamia trees. Mr. Vi Van Ngang, from Hop Nhat village, said: In 2019, his family renovated the land and planted more than 150 macadamia trees on their hillside. In 2025, the macadamia orchard began to bear fruit with a yield of nearly 200 kg of fresh fruit, bringing in nearly 14 million VND in revenue. At this time, his family's macadamia orchard has flowered and borne fruit, with an expected yield of more than 1 ton this year.

According to statistics, the entire Loi Bac commune currently has over 62.4 hectares of macadamia trees, with one enterprise and over 20 households involved in cultivation; the 2025 production is expected to reach 46.3 tons of fresh fruit, with an estimated economic value of over 3.7 billion VND. This is the commune with the largest macadamia growing area among the communes in the former Loc Binh district.

Mr. Ly Quang Ngoc, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Loi Bac commune, said: The macadamia nut cultivation model in the area has initially shown economic effectiveness, opening up a new direction for economic development for the people. To maximize the potential of this crop, in recent times, the People's Committee of the commune has coordinated with specialized agencies to organize integrated training and provide guidance on macadamia nut cultivation and care techniques for the people; at the same time, encouraging people to cooperate with businesses in product consumption.

From the initial results, it can be seen that macadamia trees have opened up prospects for economic development for the people of Loi Bac commune. However, in the long term, to avoid the situation of bumper harvests leading to price drops for macadamia trees, more attention from all levels, sectors, and localities is needed in linking and connecting consumption, promoting deep processing... From there, gradually diversify products and increase value, aiming for sustainable development of macadamia cultivation.
