A remarkable leap forward in maturity.
New recruit Thong Van Manh (born in 2007), a soldier in Company 1, Battalion 1, 812th Infantry Regiment, is the eldest of three brothers in Tan Thanh commune. Due to difficult family circumstances, Manh dropped out of school after the 9th grade to help his parents make a living. Hard work such as fishing, loading and unloading goods, and packaging dragon fruit became a part of his life. Besides work, Manh used to spend a lot of time socializing with friends, using social media, and playing video games.
After enlisting, Mạnh faced many difficulties adapting to the strict discipline, tight schedules, and intense training. However, he gradually learned self-discipline and orderliness, learned to organize his work, and cared about the collective good. After months of training, Mạnh improved physically, matured in his thinking, learned to set goals for the future, and became more aware of his responsibilities as a citizen to his family and hometown. "I feel I've changed quite a bit, I'm more mature and responsible," Mạnh shared.
In the same unit as Mạnh, Private Nguyễn Hoàng Hào (born in 2006) also had a youthful, impulsive life. Hào dropped out of school early and worked as a construction laborer to earn a living. His work wasn't stable, so he mostly participated in social activities with friends, paying little attention to himself or his family. At the end of 2025, Hào proactively wrote an application to join the military service, hoping to change himself.
During his time in the military, Hao was trained in even the smallest things, such as folding bedding, maintaining discipline, and obeying orders, as well as in overcoming difficulties during training. Today, he has become more mature, a good listener, respectful of the group, and more responsible. Hao says that the most valuable thing he gained from his time in the military is self-confidence, resilience, and a determination to build a better life.

For Corporal Nguyen Van Bao Anh, currently serving at the Mui Ne Border Guard Post, his journey of growth is closely linked to his years in the military. Born into a farming family in Ham Tan commune, Bao Anh inevitably experienced the playful moments of adolescence. Upon donning the military uniform, Bao Anh was trained in the unique environment of the border guard force. Patrols, outpost duties, assisting the local population, and carrying out tasks within the unit helped him mature quickly.
Manh, Hao, and Anh are just three of the thousands of new recruits who have matured in the military environment. According to the Provincial Military Command, the new recruits all find opportunities to train themselves in the military. Since their enlistment in March 2026, most of the new recruits have completed their training tasks, demonstrating remarkable maturity.

Dispel all doubts.
Lam Dong province is currently preparing for the new military recruitment season. Each recruitment season, the internet is flooded with articles, images, and videos from hostile forces that distort and misrepresent the image of the military, belittle its environment, and create anxiety among the people.
For example, the case of a soldier who enlisted in 2004, or the case of student T.D.D. from the Military School of Military Region 1 who was involved in an accident during a training march in 2021, were both fabricated by malicious individuals and posted on social media. Although these incidents have been investigated, clarified, and strictly handled by the authorities in accordance with the law, and the information has been publicly disclosed through mainstream media outlets.

Mr. Lam Trung Han, head of Binh Tien village in Bac Binh commune, said that every recruitment season, negative information related to the military environment appears on social media platforms. "During the recruitment drive at the beginning of 2026, some families with children preparing to enlist expressed worry and confusion after seeing articles and images online. We had to explain directly to them so they understood the true nature of the issue," Mr. Han said.
The family of Ms. Uc Thi Tuyet Luu, in Binh Tien village, Bac Binh commune, is one such case. After her son, Dang Van Hung, enlisted in the army, every time she scrolled through Facebook and saw negative information and images about military life, she became anxious. "I'm afraid my son will also encounter the same things that are shown online. Many other parents feel the same way," Ms. Luu shared.
Private Dang Van Hung, Company 2, Battalion 1, 812th Infantry Regiment, said that before enlisting, he had seen negative information, images, and videos about the military circulating on social media. “When I joined the unit, I realized that the military environment is completely different. Here, everyone lives in solidarity and helps each other like brothers. I get to learn, train, and stay away from bad habits outside of society,” Hung shared.
Interacting with various military units, it's easy to see that the lives of soldiers are increasingly being taken care of. The barracks are well-equipped, and the soldiers' diets and healthcare are guaranteed. The military environment emphasizes discipline but is also rich in humanity, camaraderie, and fellowship. Furthermore, there are no "forbidden zones" in the military when it comes to handling disciplinary violations. Any act that infringes upon the honor, dignity, or physical integrity of soldiers is dealt with severely.

Major Ba Cong Huyen, Deputy Political Commissar of the Bac Binh Commune Military Command, said: “Every recruitment season, hostile forces exploit social media to spread harmful and toxic information. Many images and videos used are old, and in some cases, they are even edited and attributed to the Vietnamese army from abroad. Those who can recognize the true nature of the information are not affected, but those lacking information are easily confused. Therefore, we regularly conduct propaganda to help people understand the military environment correctly.”
Lieutenant Colonel Le Ngoc Thanh, Head of Political Affairs of the 812th Infantry Regiment, said that the unit regularly integrates the content of combating false and distorted views about the military into political training sessions and traditional activities. The unit coordinates with relevant agencies to disseminate legal information, especially regulations related to acts of humiliating or assaulting comrades, disobeying orders, or violating military discipline.
In 2026, Lam Dong province will have 4,607 young men enlisting in the military. These new recruits will receive training at units under the Provincial Military Command, Military Region 7, the Ministry of National Defense, and various People's Public Security units.
