According to the recommendations of authorities for independent and adjacent houses, in order to safely escape in the event of a fire or explosion, it is necessary to first identify a safe exit from the burning house. Normally, the exits to a safe place in independent or adjacent houses include: the main door exit of the house; exit stairs to escape outside the house from floors; exit to the balcony; the entrance to the rooftop or the way to the roof (top floor) to exit to the adjacent building. In addition, for independent apartments, the safe exit is through windows and balconies when there are supporting devices such as rope ladders, tree ladders, slow self-rescue ropes, etc.
When detecting a fire, it is necessary to pay attention: the first person who detects the fire needs to quickly alarm so that everyone in the house knows and promptly exits through the main door of the house if this way has not been covered by fire or smoke. In the process of moving, it is necessary to stay calm and take measures to avoid inhaling smoke, toxic gas or being thrown by fire, causing burns or burning clothes.
In case the exit through the main door on the 1st floor has been covered by fire and smoke, stay calm and with family members think, find another way out such as: move out to the balcony and use means such as rope ladders (if any), or in urgent cases can use ropes or self-connecting ropes with items such as curtains, bed sheets, pants, to escape down and out to a safe place. However, before using the rope to escape, it is necessary to make sure that the rope is strong and that the rope must be tied to solid structures. Can move to the balcony or through the window and find a way to escape through neighboring buildings and structures; move to the rooftop or to the roof and exit to neighboring structures if possible. During the movement, it is necessary to use a wet towel or shirt to cover the nose and mouth to limit inhalation of smoke and toxic gases.
Absolutely do not run to the toilet to hide, because it is easy to suffocate and burn when the fire spreads to the entire apartment. In some urgent situations, in order to prevent the fire from spreading from the lower floors to the upper floors, people can discharge water from the bathroom so that the water overflows to the floor and flows down to the lower floors, which can prevent the fire from spreading to the upper floors. However, when discharging water in the apartment, it is necessary to cut off the main circuit breaker to avoid being electrocuted by overflowing water and shorting electrical equipment.
For apartments in apartment buildings: when a fire occurs, in order to safely escape, people need to observe on the corridors of the building leading from the apartments to the exits that often have signposts, the victim moves in the direction of the arrow to reach the escape ladder. At the entrance to the elevator room (inside the house) or the open staircase (outside) there will be an indicator light with the symbol "EXIT", when entering the elevator, people will move down and out to a safe place.
To escape safely, authorities recommend only using stairs, absolutely do not use elevators to escape, because the electrical system supplying the elevator may be lost and the ladder will stop suddenly at any position, the victim will be trapped in the ladder and risk being affected by the fire, inhaling smoke, toxic gas leading to death in a short time. On the way to escape, it is necessary to notify everyone in the adjacent apartments and press the emergency fire alarm button so that everyone in the building knows there is a fire incident and promptly escapes. In the process of escaping, everyone should support each other, pay special attention to helping the elderly, children and pregnant women. Absolutely do not jostle or push, which can lead to injury and endanger the lives of many people.
In case if the main door to the apartment and the corridor leading to the escape staircase are covered by smoke and fire, it is impossible to escape from the room, then quickly close the door and take measures to prevent smoke and fire from spreading into the apartment.
When detecting a fire, they must quickly call the police force for fire prevention, fighting and rescue at number 114 to promptly come to the rescue and extinguish the fire. In all cases, absolutely do not rush to jump from above to below to escape when safety conditions such as air mattresses or some other protective equipment have been deployed below by the police force for fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue.
To calmly respond to fire and explosion incidents that may occur at any time and limit casualties, everyone needs to be equipped with knowledge and skills in fire prevention and fighting; should be equipped with fire prevention, fighting and escape equipment such as fire extinguishers, gas masks, escape ladders, etc. to handle incidents when a fire or explosion occurs.
