Memories of the countryside in the heart of the city.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life, there are times when I just want to find a peaceful place to listen to the wind, smell the earth, and touch things from the past. And then, during a visit to Vinh Long, I discovered Tu Buoi Pottery Village (located at F55, Minh Linh area, Thanh Duc ward, Vinh Long province) – a rustic space that transported me back to my childhood.

During holidays, Tet (Lunar New Year), and weekends, Tu Buoi Pottery Village becomes a popular destination attracting many tourists.

The pottery village is open to visitors from 7 am to 5 pm daily. From the moment I entered, my first impression was one of familiarity. Simple tiled roofs, water jars, and pottery pots neatly arranged on the verandas—small corners decorated like miniature memories. I encountered families taking photos, children running around in the rural courtyard, and adults sipping coffee in the shade. The pottery village is not just a tourist attraction, but also a place where everyone can rediscover childhood memories through images that recreate simple, familiar scenes of the past.

What impressed me most was the experience of being a craftsperson in a pottery village. Touching the soft clay for the first time, I clearly felt its coolness and the distinctive earthy aroma. With attentive guidance, I tried molding a small cup. Initially, I was clumsy, the clay misshapen, but gradually, my hands became more accustomed to the rhythm, and each rotation became smoother. When the product was finished, even though it wasn't perfect, I still felt happy, as if I had created something truly unique of my own.

Perhaps it was that very moment that made me understand why this activity attracts not only children but also adults. In the fast-paced world of technology, the opportunity to sit still, focus on a raw block of clay, and patiently shape it is a valuable experience.

The "country market" atmosphere in the pottery village made the space even more vibrant. I strolled around, enjoying rice cakes, leaf-wrapped cakes, banana cakes, pork skin cakes, and then tried the hot snail and coconut heart pancake. The aroma of chicken cooked with chili peppers, the richness of silkworm-shaped rice noodles with pork skin, the sweet and refreshing taste of local tea… all blended together to create a culinary masterpiece typical of the Mekong Delta.

After strolling through the market, I chose to sit at a cafe on the premises, order a refreshing drink, quietly watch the people go by, and enjoy a rare sense of peace. The combination of traditional handicrafts and folk cuisine has gradually helped this place become an attractive community tourism destination in Vinh Long.

Leaving Tu Buoi Pottery Village as evening fell, my hands still clung to a little dust, my heart overflowing with emotions difficult to name. A morning touching the earth, a midday stroll through the rural market, an afternoon listening to the wind blowing through the thatched roof – this journey was not just a weekend getaway, but a return to familiar memories.

And perhaps, amidst the ever-changing urban landscape, places like Tu Buoi Pottery Village are the necessary havens of tranquility, where each person can slow down, listen to themselves, and find a little simple peace.
