Every election is important, but some elections are pivotal. This is because they mark the point where the country is no longer at the threshold of reform, but has entered a phase of higher demands: more modern governance, more synchronized institutions, rapid but sustainable development, and deep integration while still preserving national identity.
This election is taking place at precisely that time. The 14th National Congress of the Party has established a new development mindset for the period 2026–2030 and a vision to 2045, considering this a breakthrough period to realize the aspiration for a prosperous and happy nation.
In this context, the 16th National Assembly and the new term of the People's Councils at all levels will not only be state power organs in the legal sense, but must also become forces that create, supervise, and accompany the comprehensive reform of the nation.
A country entering a new era cannot progress solely through growth rate or material infrastructure. It must also advance through cultural depth, human qualities, national character, and the ability to preserve its core values while reaching out to the world .
To achieve this, we need a political system that truly values culture, a National Assembly that truly knows how to place culture in its proper place, and a team of representatives who are truly capable of translating grand visions into concrete actions.
Election Day, therefore, is not only a day of civic rights, but also a day of national responsibility. Each ballot cast is a message to the future: what kind of development do we want for our country, how do we want our politics to function, and what stature do we want Vietnamese culture to enter a new era with? And if we choose the right people, place our trust in the right people, and nurture the right aspirations, then from these votes today, the country will have a solid foundation to move towards the future, and culture will have a powerful impetus to truly become an intrinsic strength of the nation in the 21st century.
Therefore, this election is also an election that paves the way for cultural development. Because for Resolution 80 to be implemented effectively, it must first be institutionalized through appropriate laws, policies, budgets, enforcement mechanisms, and oversight mechanisms.
For culture to truly become a driving force for development, we need a National Assembly that understands the value of culture not only in spiritual life, but also in economic development, human development, institutional improvement, and enhancing national soft power.
For the cultural industry to achieve breakthroughs, new policies are needed regarding investment, markets, human resources, copyright, data, creative spaces, digital technology, and public-private partnerships. For heritage to become a living asset, a new development mindset is required, moving away from static preservation and placing heritage in harmonious relationships with education, tourism, creativity, and community livelihoods.
From that perspective, today's vote is also a vote for the future of Vietnamese culture. Because every decision regarding the personnel representing the culture will directly impact the ability to enact better laws for the culture, allocate resources more equitably to the culture, and create a healthier environment for cultural development.
A culturally astute elected representative will understand that investing in culture is not a “soft cost,” but rather an investment in the foundation of sustainable development. A culturally-minded elected body will recognize that preserving identity is not opposed to modernization; on the contrary, identity is what makes a nation attractive, competitive, and resilient in the age of globalization.
The cultural sector is facing a rare opportunity. Resolution 80 has opened up a new impetus, a new policy space, and a new vision. But this opportunity will only become a reality when it is supported by sound institutions, by a team of dedicated and competent officials, by social consensus, and by representatives who truly understand the value of culture in the national development structure. Therefore, today's election is not separate from the story of the cultural sector, but is an integral part of it.
