Device data security is always a concern for smartphone users. However, many people are not fully aware of the procedures for securing their devices and preventing phone tracking. This article will explore ways to prevent tracking on Android and iPhone.
Limit the use of the device location feature.
Using the GPS location feature on smartphones is quite common among users today. This feature allows us to easily know our current location and use it for various purposes. However, overuse of this location feature can inadvertently make your device less secure and more easily tracked by other applications.
For iPhone devices
Step 1 : Access Settings from the app menu, then select General.
Here, you can find and select the Restrictions option.
Step 2: The system will ask you to enter your Restrictions password to confirm, then find and select the Location Services function as shown below.
Step 3: Here you can select "Turn off location services" or select the applications that are using location services on your device and select " No" to turn them off.
For Android devices
Go to Settings , then find and select the Privacy and Safety Location option.
Here you can choose to turn off location services, or select the "Mode" option to change the accuracy and method of device location for greater security.
Do not root or jailbreak your device.
Rooting an Android device or jailbreaking an iPhone offers unique experiences but comes with a host of risks. Rooted or jailbroken devices are very unstable and insecure, making them vulnerable to unauthorized installation of tracking applications.
However, for savvy users, they can jailbreak or root their devices to install location-simulating apps, allowing them to "pretend" to be in one place when in reality they are somewhere else.
Prevent phone tracking by using app permissions.
Whenever we install new applications on Android or iPhone devices, the system usually sends notifications requesting confirmation of the installation and device setup. For applications that don't require GPS, calling, or messaging features but still request these functions, you should delete them and not grant the application permissions.
Never share your personal account.
Many people are careless in managing their accounts on smartphones and tablets. This is a reality that is difficult to change. In Vietnam, users still share their Apple ID search with phone retailers. Some people innocently provide their Apple ID and iCloud account to their partners, unaware that they are being tracked through the Find My Search feature on their iPhones.
Not just on iPhone search, Android users shouldn't be careless with their accounts either. Gmail is the most valuable thing on an Android device because it stores contacts, emails, notes, and is the login key for photo storage services. If someone knows your Gmail and password, they can also locate you if you've previously enabled the Find My Device feature.
Besides keeping their personal accounts secure, users should limit the use of features that stream photos to other devices. For example, an iPhone search might automatically send recently taken photos to the photo gallery on an iPad search. An Android smartphone could automatically sync photos to Google Photos, and someone might know the login password for the service. This is both a convenient feature and a double-edged sword.
Check the list of applications again.
As mentioned above, unfamiliar applications on your device are one of the factors that can lead to your device being tracked. Therefore, to prevent tracking on your phone, you need to check if your device has any unfamiliar or unknown applications.
Next, remove this suspicious application from your device. Many applications are infected with malware, leaving us unaware of their safety, so uninstalling or deleting them is absolutely necessary.
Locate via phone number
Many people are currently concerned about being easily tracked and located through their phone number; however, this is completely impossible. Location tracking via phone number requires permission from the mobile network provider. This compromises the privacy of users. Therefore, you can rest assured that you no longer need to worry about this issue.
So, we've just explored ways to prevent phone tracking and location tracking. Hopefully, through this article, you've understood the necessary steps and what you should do to prevent your Android or iPhone phone from being tracked.
