The Duong Hoa area in Phu Bai ward is very fertile thanks to the blessings of nature. This favorable terrain has created an ideal environment for the pomelo tree to take root and thrive from 2020 to the present. This result is partly due to the attention of the Farmers' Association at all levels, which has invested in supporting seedlings, materials, and fertilizers. The total area of ​​pomelo trees in Duong Hoa currently exceeds 82 hectares, with 330 households growing them. Of that, 50 hectares are producing fruit, bringing in an annual income of 8-9 billion VND, with some households earning 300-400 million VND.

According to Mr. Pham Xuan Hau, Chairman of the Phu Bai Ward Farmers' Association, from 2020 to the present, farmers in Duong Hoa have received support from the City Farmers' Association Standing Committee with a total funding of over 147 million VND (in the form of materials and machinery) for 30 member households to expand the semi-automatic irrigation model for pomelo trees. After receiving support, farmers invested an additional nearly 635 million VND in matching funds to install equipment and complete the irrigation system for use.

The effectiveness of the semi-automatic irrigation system for pomelo trees has reduced labor by approximately 100 man-hours per crop season, contributing to improved crop quality and increased farming efficiency, resulting in an annual income increase of about 20 million VND per orchard (household). Thanks to this, farmers have proactively invested in installing irrigation systems. To date, the percentage of pomelo orchards with irrigation systems has reached nearly 60%. Currently, the local Farmers' Association has encouraged the establishment of the Duong Hoa Pomelo Cooperative to implement the OCOP 3-star product certification process for pomelo fruit.

Innovating propaganda and mobilization work.

Mr. Phan Xuan Nam, Vice Chairman and Head of the Farmers' Affairs Committee of the City Farmers' Association, said that closely following the directives of the Central Association, the local Party committee and government, and the practical situation, the Farmers' Associations at all levels in the city have demonstrated a proactive and creative spirit in comprehensively implementing all aspects of association work and spreading farmers' movements effectively and widely. Typical examples include movements for excellent production and business, value chain linkages, joint efforts to build new rural areas, and farmers' cooperation with the law…

One of the movements recognized and highly appreciated by all levels is the "Farmers Competing to Build New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas" movement, which is organized regularly, continuously, and increasingly in-depth. Through this movement, farmer members throughout the city have contributed over 101 billion VND, 669,309 labor days, and 605,515 m² of land to build infrastructure and welfare facilities serving the community. In addition, more than 84,000 member households achieve the title of "Cultural Family" each year, and nearly 290,000 households register to produce safe agricultural products, raising awareness of protecting public health. Models of professional branches, cooperatives, and clubs of skilled farmers continue to be replicated, creating an environment for linkage, sharing, and supporting production development among members.

Another innovative highlight is the movement " Hue City farmers say no to pesticide packaging and burning straw in the fields." This movement has spread widely among farmers, creating positive changes in awareness about protecting the rural environment. Thousands of officials and members have participated in cleaning up fields, building containers for used pesticide packaging, and installing propaganda panels in production groups…

To spread movements and activities, the Farmers' Association at all levels constantly innovates and effectively implements propaganda, mobilization, service activities, consulting, vocational training, and job creation for farmers; it also promotes and encourages farmers to participate in the development of collective economic activities , linkages, and cooperation in agricultural production, especially linkages with businesses along the value chain. Along with this, it focuses on organizing activities related to building a clean and strong Party and government, and promoting the strength of national unity; it emphasizes organizing activities to participate in national defense and security tasks. In particular, it researches and develops effective solutions to direct the association's work and farmers' movements towards successfully achieving the tasks set forth in the resolutions of the Party congresses at all levels for the new term 2025-2030.

According to Mr. Phan Xuan Nam, the 2025-2030 term ushers in a new era, as the country enters a revolution in streamlining organizational structures, efficiently operating a two-tiered local government model, and adjusting and redefining the roles of socio- political organizations, including the Farmers' Association. These new requirements present both opportunities and significant challenges for the association's work and the farmers' movement at all levels. Therefore, the city's Farmers' Association at all levels will continue to innovate its model for gathering farmers, selecting appropriate propaganda content tailored to the needs of each group of members and farmers, and in line with the specific circumstances of each locality, contributing to the successful achievement of development goals in the new period, together with the entire Party Committee and the people of the city.
