Spreading the message of love and sharing, activities in response to International Happiness Day (March 20th) are taking place throughout residential areas across the province these days. Through diverse and practical forms, all levels and sectors in the province are striving to instill the value of true happiness into every home, contributing to building a cohesive and humane community.

In order to realize the goal of developing social welfare and building prosperous, progressive, happy, and civilized Vietnamese families, on December 26, 2013, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 2589/QD-TTg approving the Project "Organizing activities on International Happiness Day, March 20th, annually". Following this policy and the guiding documents of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Provincial Steering Committee for Family Affairs has proactively directed all levels and sectors to develop a comprehensive and synchronized implementation plan.
Cultivating happiness from within the family.
The family has always been identified as the core element determining the sustainable development of society. To concretize the project "Organizing activities to celebrate International Happiness Day on March 20th annually," the provincial authorities and departments have implemented a comprehensive set of key solutions such as: promoting moral and lifestyle education within families, along with expanding the "Code of Conduct in Families" to 100% of communes and wards in the province; improving the quality of evaluating culturally exemplary families; organizing diverse activities to celebrate International Happiness Day on March 20th; maintaining a system of 510 happy family and sustainable family development clubs in the community... thereby creating positive changes in people's awareness of building happy families.
In Van Lang commune, the spirit of March 20th is conveyed through the public address system, mobile film screenings, and thematic activities from 13 happy family clubs. Leading the way is the Keo Van village club, where 26 members have maintained regular activities for over 10 years. Ms. Loc Thi Lien, the club's chairperson, shared: "We understand that happiness exists in the sharing of household chores between husband and wife, in warm meals, and in the filial piety of children. March 20th is also a reminder for us and the villagers to strengthen our bonds and consciously implement village customs and regulations to keep the flame of the home burning and build happy families together."
Thanks to the transformation in awareness and actions of each family, by 2025, over 88% of households in Van Lang commune will achieve the title of "Culturally Advanced Family".
Along with Keo Van village, Van Lang commune, the spirit of International Happiness Day has been consistently maintained by residential areas throughout the province for over 10 years with many practical activities. Since the Prime Minister approved the Project "Organizing activities on March 20th annually" at the end of 2013, the Provincial Steering Committee for Family Affairs has continuously innovated its approach.

Ms. Le Hai Yen, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: "Over the years, the department has proactively advised and issued practical guidance documents to further integrate International Happiness Day on March 20th into people's lives. Every year, this activity has become a regular practice with increasingly innovative and diverse forms. Through this, March 20th has become a celebration for families, a place for people to exchange, interact, learn, and share experiences to build happy families together."
Building a humane community
From 2014 to the present, the province has organized nearly 1,000 mobile film screenings, over 20,000 mobile propaganda vehicle campaigns, and thousands of rallies and seminars. Notably, through these activities, the province has displayed over 100 propaganda banners, promptly visited, interacted with, and commended exemplary individuals and good deeds, as well as successful models for building happy families. Influential individuals in the community have also been honored, creating motivation to encourage all organizations and individuals to actively participate in preventing and combating domestic violence and building prosperous lives. As a result, the awareness and responsibility of each individual in building progressive and civilized families have been enhanced. This has significantly contributed to improving the quality of culturally exemplary families in the province over the past period. As a result, by 2025, the entire province had 177,406 out of 205,621 households achieving the title of culturally exemplary family, accounting for 86.2% (an increase of 2.4% compared to 2024).
Happiness is also realized through practical acts of mutual support and compassion. Upholding the tradition of "helping those in need," the "For the Poor" Fund at all levels has mobilized nearly 12 billion VND, supporting the construction and repair of 208 solidarity houses in 2025. In addition, hundreds of tons of rice for famine relief and tens of billions of VND worth of Tet gifts have been delivered directly to policy beneficiary families and those who have rendered meritorious services, helping to spread warmth and happiness to those in difficult circumstances.
Building on that success, in 2026, with the theme "Happiness for Every Family," the entire province will continue to promote activities focused on the grassroots level. A highlight will be a thematic discussion program held on March 20th, featuring exemplary households. This is an opportunity to foster trust and raise awareness of responsibility in each individual in working together to build a prosperous, progressive, happy, and civilized home.

Communes and wards throughout the province simultaneously organized propaganda activities using over 1,000 loudspeaker systems; they also held cultural and artistic exchange activities, seminars, etc.
Ms. Pham Thi Thuan, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Dong Kinh Ward, said: "Since the beginning of March, we have compiled materials to send to residential areas to publicize International Happiness Day through the local public address system and guided residential areas to organize appropriate activities to celebrate it according to their actual conditions."
Proactively organizing diverse activities at the grassroots level has significantly contributed to honoring the fine traditional values of Vietnamese families. These practical activities not only create a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere but also foster trust and enhance the sense of responsibility of each individual in working together to build a prosperous, progressive, happy, and civilized home.
