Throughout the revolutionary periods, the emulation movement in Thai Nguyen has continuously developed, becoming increasingly closely linked to the political, economic, and social tasks of the locality. Each movement, each project, each good deed today contributes to affirming the character, intelligence, and innovative spirit of a heroic land, constantly developing towards the goal of "a prosperous people, a strong nation, happiness, and civilization."

The source of patriotic emulation

On June 11, 1948, President Ho Chi Minh issued the Call for Patriotic Emulation - a historical document of special significance, which awakened the strength of national unity in the cause of resistance and national construction.

In 1952, at Khuân Lân, Phấn Mễ commune (Phú Lương district, Thái Nguyên province), the first National Congress of Emulation Fighters and Exemplary Cadres was held, marking Thái Nguyên's rise as the cradle of the patriotic emulation movement.

For 77 years, the spirit of "Emulation is patriotism - Patriotism requires emulation" has been continued and strongly promoted by the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Thai Nguyen province in all areas of social life.

Entering the 2020-2025 period, amidst numerous difficulties and challenges facing the country and the world, the patriotic emulation movement in Thai Nguyen continues to be strongly implemented and spread widely throughout society. Specific and practical action movements have become an important driving force, motivating the entire political system to strive to overcome difficulties and achieve many development goals.

As a result, the province's average GRDP growth rate reached over 7% per year; state budget revenue increased sharply, from VND 16,440 billion in 2020 to VND 24,735 billion in 2025 (more than 1.5 times higher).

Notably, prior to the merger (from 2023), Thai Nguyen province had already balanced its budget revenue and expenditure and contributed to the central government, affirming its position as a major industrial center in the region.

Thanks to the effective implementation of patriotic emulation movements, the province's GRDP growth rate averaged over 7% per year during the 2020-2025 period.

Industry continues to play a leading role, with production value remaining among the highest in the country. Transportation, urban, healthcare, and education infrastructure have been invested in comprehensively; the material and spiritual lives of the people are increasingly improving.

Alongside this, the "Joining Forces to Build New Rural Areas" emulation movement has been widely implemented with many practical contents and solutions, creating clear changes at the grassroots level. The poverty rate has decreased by an average of 1.41% per year - a sustainable reduction in the context of a volatile economy.

In particular, the "Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses" program has become a highlight in the province's patriotic emulation movement. By effectively mobilizing resources from businesses, the people, officials, and soldiers of the armed forces, the program has strongly spread the spirit of "mutual support and solidarity."

The entire province has supported the construction and repair of 13,945 houses for poor households. In 2025 alone, during the peak period, Thai Nguyen supported the construction and repair of 1,838 houses, achieving 100% of the plan, finishing 8 months ahead of schedule, and being one of the three localities that completed the plan earliest in the country.

Following the merger, the new Thai Nguyen province continues to prioritize resources to address the need to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing for poor and near-poor households throughout the province, demonstrating a strong political determination to improve people's lives and narrow the regional gap.

Driving force for comprehensive development

Patriotic emulation movements in Thai Nguyen always closely adhere to key tasks, linking them to the practical realities of each locality, agency, and unit, thereby arousing the spirit of innovation and creativity, and the aspiration for progress throughout society.

In economic development, the "Thai Nguyen Enterprises Integrate and Develop" movement has created a strong impetus to attract investment, especially in high-tech industries and supporting industries.

In recent years, Thai Nguyen has consistently maintained its top position nationwide in terms of PAR Index, SIPAS, and PCI. Currently, all 92 communes and wards have established public administrative service centers, contributing to improving service quality and increasing satisfaction among citizens and businesses.

During the period 2020-2025, the province established nearly 6,000 new businesses with a total registered capital of over 70,000 billion VND, bringing the total to 14,109 businesses with a registered capital of over 193,000 billion VND. Thai Nguyen continues to maintain its position among the top provinces nationwide in terms of export turnover.

In agriculture, many high-tech production models, digital transformation in cooperative management, and traceability of OCOP products have been replicated, contributing to increased production value and income for the people.

In the socio-cultural field, movements such as "Teaching well - learning well," "Doctors are like mothers," and "Promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style"... have created significant changes in the quality of education, healthcare, and social welfare.

The province consistently ranks among the top in the country in terms of high school graduation exam results; the grassroots healthcare network has been strengthened, and the quality of medical examination and treatment has been improved; many exemplary teachers, doctors, farmers, and workers have been honored, spreading the spirit of emulation in the community.

In Party building and the political system, movements such as "Cadres, civil servants, and public employees competing to implement workplace culture," and "Competing in administrative reform associated with digital transformation"... have helped Thai Nguyen maintain its top position nationwide in terms of PAR Index, Sipas, and PCI.

The work of streamlining the organizational structure to be more efficient and effective has been implemented synchronously; Thai Nguyen is the first locality in the country to complete the Project on reorganizing commune-level administrative units and the Project on merging Bac Kan and Thai Nguyen provinces.

The two-tiered local government model operates smoothly; all 92 communes and wards have established public administrative service centers, contributing to improved service quality and increased satisfaction among citizens and businesses.

In the field of national defense and security, the "All People Protect National Security" movement has been marked by the maintenance of political stability and social order; economic security, cybersecurity, and rural security have been ensured; the annual crime investigation and detection rate has exceeded 80%, preventing the occurrence of hotspots.

The driving force of innovation and progress.

From the historic milestone of Khuân Lân in 1952 to the current period of reform, the patriotic emulation movement in Thái Nguyên province has always been a powerful source of spiritual motivation, fostering the will to strive and the spirit of dedication of generations.

Over the past five years, the province has established nearly 6,000 new businesses with a total registered capital of over 70,000 billion VND.

Entering the 2025-2030 period, the Provincial Party Committee has identified three key tasks: accelerating industrialization and modernization; developing a knowledge-based economy linked to digital transformation and green growth; and building a clean, strong political system and a happy people.

The emulation movements in the new phase are concretized through practical action programs such as: "Thai Nguyen Digital Transformation", "Developing Green and Smart Industries", "Model New Rural Areas", "All People United in Building a Culturally Rich Life"... linked to the goal of building Thai Nguyen into a comprehensively developed province, a center of high-quality industry, education and healthcare in the northern midland and mountainous region.

Building on its heroic traditions and the spirit of national unity, with faith and a will for innovation, the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Thai Nguyen are striving to build the image of a dynamic, compassionate, and creative locality, where the spirit of patriotic emulation is concretized in every action and every deed.

In the context of national development, Thai Nguyen continues to identify patriotic emulation as a regular task, a method to transform will into action, and aspirations into concrete results. Each emulation movement is a new step forward, creating momentum to promote innovation, improve people's lives, and strengthen society's trust in the Party's leadership.

A highlight of Thai Nguyen province's emulation and reward work is the emphasis on commending direct laborers, those in remote areas, and those with useful initiatives and solutions. During the 2020-2025 period, the province will have 137 collectives and individuals awarded the Labor Medal; 3 individuals awarded the title of National Emulation Soldier; 386 collectives and individuals receiving Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister; and 99 collectives awarded the Government's Emulation Flag. At the provincial level, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Emulation Flags to 800 collectives; the title of Excellent Worker to 2,735 collectives; Certificates of Merit to 3,347 collectives and 16,564 individuals; with a total reward budget reaching 123.6 billion VND by June 30, 2025. The reward work is gradually overcoming formalism, ensuring transparency and openness, and shortening the processing time for applications. Many thematic emulation movements have creative approaches, are closely linked to reality, and create an environment that encourages innovation, dedication, and a spirit of daring to think and act.
