The patriotic emulation movement has long been a great spiritual driving force, fostering the will to rise up and the desire to contribute of generations of Thai Nguyen people. Through the revolutionary stages, the emulation movement in Thai Nguyen has continuously developed, increasingly closely linked with the political, economic and social tasks of the locality. Each movement, each project, each good deed today contributes to affirming the mettle, intelligence and spirit of innovation of a heroic land, which is constantly developing for the goal of "rich people, strong country, happiness, civilization".

Source of patriotic emulation

On June 11, 1948, President Ho Chi Minh issued the Call for Patriotic Emulation - a historical document of special significance, arousing the strength of great national unity in the resistance war and nation building.

In 1952, at Khuan Lan, Phan Me commune (Phu Luong district, Thai Nguyen), the first National Congress of Emulation Fighters and Exemplary Cadres was held, marking Thai Nguyen as the cradle of the patriotic emulation movement.

After 77 years, the spirit of "Emulation is patriotism - Patriotism must be emulated" has been continued and strongly promoted by the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Thai Nguyen province in all areas of social life.

Entering the 2020-2025 period, in the context of the country and the world facing many difficulties and challenges, the patriotic emulation movement in Thai Nguyen continues to be strongly deployed, spreading widely throughout society. Specific and practical action movements have become an important driving force to promote the entire political system to strive to overcome difficulties and complete many development goals.

Thanks to that, the province's GRDP growth rate averages over 7%/year; State budget revenue increases sharply, from 16,440 billion VND in 2020 to 24,735 billion VND in 2025 (more than 1.5 times).

In particular, before the merger (from 2023), Thai Nguyen province has balanced its revenue and expenditure budget and has regulated it to the Central Government, affirming its position as a major industrial center of the region.

Thanks to the effective implementation of patriotic emulation movements, in the 2020-2025 period, the province's GRDP growth rate reached an average of over 7%/year.

Industry continues to play a leading role, with production value remaining among the highest in the country. Infrastructure for transportation, urban areas, healthcare, and education has been invested in synchronously; the material and spiritual life of the people has been increasingly improved.

Along with that, the emulation movement "Joining hands to build new rural areas" was widely deployed with many practical contents and solutions, creating clear changes at the grassroots level. The poverty rate decreased by an average of 1.41% per year - a sustainable reduction in the context of many economic fluctuations.

In particular, the program “Eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses” has become a bright spot in the province’s patriotic emulation movement. By effectively mobilizing resources from businesses, people, officers and soldiers of the armed forces, the program has strongly spread the spirit of “the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves”.

The province has supported the construction and repair of 13,945 houses for poor households. In 2025 alone, during the peak period, Thai Nguyen had 1,838 houses supported for construction and repair, reaching 100% of the plan, finishing 8 months early, being one of the three localities to complete the project the earliest in the country.

After the merger, Thai Nguyen province continued to prioritize resources to address the need to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households throughout the area, demonstrating high political determination in improving people's lives and narrowing regional gaps.

Driving force for comprehensive development

Patriotic emulation movements in Thai Nguyen always closely follow the core tasks, associated with the reality of each locality, agency and unit, thereby arousing the spirit of innovation and creativity, and the desire to rise up in the whole society.

In economic development, the movement "Thai Nguyen enterprises integrate and develop" has created a strong driving force to attract investment, especially in high-tech and supporting industries.

In recent years, Thai Nguyen has always maintained its top position in the country in terms of Par Index, Sipas, and PCI. Currently, 92/92 communes and wards have established public administrative service centers, contributing to improving service quality and enhancing the satisfaction of people and businesses.

In the 2020-2025 period, the whole province established nearly 6,000 new enterprises with a total registered capital of more than 70,000 billion VND, bringing the total number to 14,109 enterprises with a registered capital of over 193,000 billion VND. Thai Nguyen continues to hold the top position in the country in terms of export turnover.

In agriculture, many production models applying high technology, digital transformation in cooperative management, and tracing the origin of OCOP products have been replicated, contributing to increasing production value and income for people.

In the cultural and social fields, the movements "Teach well - study well", "Doctors like kind mothers", "Promoting learning and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle"... have created clear changes in the quality of education, health care and social security.

The province has continuously been among the leading groups in the country in terms of high school graduation exam results; the grassroots healthcare network has been strengthened, the quality of medical examination and treatment has been improved; many exemplary teachers, doctors, farmers and workers have been honored, spreading the spirit of emulation in the community.

In Party building and the political system, the movements "Cadres, civil servants, and public employees compete to practice office culture", "Competition in administrative reform associated with digital transformation"... have helped Thai Nguyen maintain its top position in the country in terms of Par Index, Sipas, and PCI.

The work of streamlining the apparatus to be more efficient and effective has been implemented synchronously; Thai Nguyen is the first locality in the country to complete the Project on restructuring commune-level administrative units and the Project on merging Bac Kan and Thai Nguyen provinces.

The two-level local government model has been operating smoothly; 92/92 communes and wards have established public administrative service centers, contributing to improving service quality and enhancing the satisfaction of people and businesses.

The national defense and security sector is marked by the movement "All people protect national security", maintaining political stability, social order and safety; economic security, cyber security, and rural security are ensured; the annual rate of investigation and resolution of cases reaches over 80%, with no hot spots occurring.

The resilience of innovation and growth

From the historical milestone of Khuong Lan in 1952 to the renovation process today, the patriotic emulation movement in Thai Nguyen province has always been a strong source of spiritual motivation, fostering the will to rise up and the spirit of dedication of generations.

In 5 years, the whole province established nearly 6,000 new enterprises with total registered capital of more than 70,000 billion VND.

Entering the 2025-2030 period, the Provincial Party Committee identified three key tasks: Promoting industrialization and modernization; developing a knowledge-based economy associated with digital transformation and green growth; building a clean, strong political system and happy people.

The emulation movements in the new period are concretized by practical action programs such as: "Thai Nguyen digital transformation", "Developing green - smart industry", "Model new rural areas", "All people unite to build a cultural life"... associated with the goal of building Thai Nguyen into a comprehensively developed province, a center of industry, education and high-quality health care in the midlands and mountainous areas of the North.

Promoting the heroic tradition and spirit of national solidarity, with faith and will for innovation, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Thai Nguyen are striving to build the image of a dynamic, affectionate and creative locality, where the spirit of patriotic emulation is concretized in every action and every work.

Today's movements not only contribute to the completion of socio-economic goals but also foster cultural values, spread the spirit of humanity and community responsibility...

In the development flow of the country, Thai Nguyen continues to identify patriotic emulation as a regular task, a method to turn will into action, turn aspirations into concrete results. Each emulation movement is a new step forward, creating a driving force to promote innovation, improve people's lives, and strengthen society's trust in the leadership of the Party.

From a glorious tradition, the province is writing a new page of history - a page of faith, unity and dedication, contributing with the whole country to build an increasingly prosperous and happy Fatherland...

The highlight of the emulation and reward work of Thai Nguyen province is to focus on praising direct workers in remote areas, people with initiatives and useful solutions. In the period of 2020-2025, the whole province has 137 collectives and individuals awarded the Labor Medal; 3 individuals won the title of National Emulation Fighter; 386 collectives and individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister; 99 collectives were awarded the Government's Emulation Flag. At the provincial level, the Provincial People's Committee awarded the Emulation Flag to 800 collectives; the title of Excellent Worker to 2,735 collectives; Certificates of Merit to 3,347 collectives and 16,564 individuals; the total reward budget up to June 30, 2025 reached 123.6 billion VND. The reward work has gradually overcome formalism, ensuring publicity, transparency, and shortening the time for processing records. Many thematic emulation movements have creative approaches, linked to practice, creating an environment that encourages innovation, dedication and the spirit of daring to think and dare to do.
