A Day of Compassion

For a long time, the image of people patiently waiting their turn to donate blood, hands ready to be extended, and relieved smiles after completing a beautiful act of kindness... has become familiar in blood donation programs held throughout the province. There are young people and youth union members participating in blood donation for the first time, feeling both nervous and excited; and there are officials and employees who have regularly participated in blood donation drives for many years, ready to share a part of their blood to save lives. It is from such compassionate hearts that the blood donation movement continues to grow and spread.

From January 1st to December 26th, 2025, the entire province organized 60 blood donation drives, receiving 20,232 units of blood, achieving 80% of the plan assigned by the National Steering Committee, making an important contribution to ensuring the blood supply for emergency and treatment purposes for patients at medical facilities.

To achieve these results, blood donation awareness and mobilization efforts were implemented comprehensively and extensively. During the year, the Blood Donation Campaign Steering Committees at all levels organized 70 direct awareness sessions, attracting over 25,000 participants. In addition, more than 100 news articles were published in the mass media; 2,000 leaflets were distributed; and over 250 banners and posters were displayed along various roads and residential areas.

Thanks to the widespread dissemination of information through the media, public awareness of blood donation has been increasingly raised. Many agencies, units, businesses, schools, and armed forces have proactively registered to organize blood donation drives, contributing to creating meaningful events.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Quyen, Head of the Health Care and Blood Donation Department of the Provincial Red Cross Society, the blood donation movement has seen significant development in recent years, receiving increasingly positive responses from all sectors of the population. Not only officials, union members, and armed forces personnel, but also many citizens, workers, and small business owners participate in blood donation. Encouragingly, the number of repeat blood donors is increasing, contributing to ensuring a safe and stable blood supply for emergency care and treatment of patients.

Besides regular blood donation drives, many large-scale campaigns have made a profound impact. Notable examples include: the "Blood Donation at the Beginning of Spring - Multiplying Happiness" campaign at the start of 2025, which received 4,437 units of blood, contributing to overcoming the blood shortage before and after the Lunar New Year; the "Drops of Red Blood" campaign and the "Red Journey" program – a journey connecting benevolent hearts across the country – received 2,599 units of blood, of which the "Red Journey" program contributed 377 units...

Silent role models

Behind the impressive numbers in the blood donation movement lies the persistent contribution of thousands of volunteers. Currently, there are 27 blood donation clubs in the province with 1,836 members, operating in various models. These include 10 clubs promoting blood donation with 523 members, 3 reserve blood donation clubs with 210 members, 8 living blood bank clubs with 871 members, and a rare Rh(-) blood type club with 60 members. These clubs not only participate in blood donation but also serve as a core force in community outreach and mobilization. From schools and offices to residential areas, they become key figures in spreading the message of compassion, helping more and more people understand and be willing to participate in blood donation.

In that movement, many individuals have become exemplary role models, such as: Mr. Ngo Dung Cuong (Dong Hoi ward) who has donated blood 35 times, Ms. Duong Thi Lai (Ben Quan commune) who has donated blood 45 times, Mr. Chau Ba Truong (Ben Quan commune) who has donated blood 68 times... These numbers not only demonstrate perseverance but also serve as proof of profound compassion. Each blood donation is an act of giving hope to patients who need blood for treatment.

“Every time I donate blood, I simply think that if my blood can help patients overcome critical situations, it's worth doing. As long as my health permits, I will continue to participate in blood donation and encourage my relatives and friends to do the same,” shared Mr. Tran Van Nho ( VNPT Le Thuy), who has donated blood 71 times.

It is these sincere thoughts that have contributed to the powerful spread of the spirit of sharing in the community. From one person to many, from a small story to a large movement, these silent acts of kindness have connected people through love and social responsibility.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Quyen, it is the exemplary blood donors who have created a strong ripple effect in society. When people see individuals donating blood multiple times, they understand that blood donation is a safe and meaningful act. As a result, more and more people are willing to participate in blood donation, contributing to building a stable blood supply for emergency care and medical treatment.
