A prime example is Cam Pha Regional General Hospital. Since the beginning of August 2025, the hospital has launched three voluntary blood donation drives. Among them, the image of Mr. Nguyen Van Tao and his two daughters, Nguyen Ngoc Giau and Nguyen Ngoc Anh (residing in Group 2, Area 3C, Cam Pha Ward), participating in blood donation on August 5th was particularly touching. Mr. Tao shared: “Hearing the hospital's call for donations, my daughters and I thought of the critically ill patients waiting for blood transfusions every hour and every minute. Donating blood may seem small, but our blood will give others a chance to live. My daughters and I are eligible to donate, so we came together to donate.”
The image of three family members entering the blood donation room together evoked strong emotions about family bonds, responsibility, and compassion. In just three blood donation drives, Cam Pha Regional General Hospital received over 260 valuable units of blood, contributing to the blood reserve for emergency and treatment purposes.
At the provincial level, the Provincial General Hospital is also one of the leading units in the blood donation movement. On average, the hospital needs about 1,000 units of blood each month for treatment, and also has to distribute it to medical centers in the eastern region.
Dr. Ngo Van Tuan, Head of the Cardiology Department and Secretary of the Youth Union of the hospital, said: “We actively encourage staff, union members, youth, and hospital employees to participate in blood donation to meet treatment needs. In addition, we also promote and encourage patients' families and social organizations to participate to promptly supplement the blood supply for emergency and treatment purposes.”
In addition to focusing on professional expertise, hospitals also prioritize promoting awareness and organizing various blood donation campaigns. Currently, there are four permanent Red Cross blood donation points in the province located at the following hospitals: the Provincial General Hospital, Vietnam-Sweden Uong Bi Hospital, Bai Chay Hospital, and the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital. People can donate blood directly at these points every day of the week, providing maximum convenience for those with charitable hearts.
At Vietnam-Sweden Uong Bi Hospital, blood donation has become a regular activity and receives close cooperation from socio- political organizations in the area. From the beginning of 2025 to the present, the hospital has launched 20 blood donation drives, receiving nearly 4,500 units of blood, contributing to supplementing the reserve for emergency and treatment purposes.
Dr. Vu Thi Thanh Huong, Head of the Laboratory Department at Vietnam-Sweden Uong Bi Hospital, shared: "The voluntary blood donation movement not only contributes to overcoming the shortage of blood in emergency and treatment situations, but also spreads positive humanitarian values in the community. Each unit of donated blood is a priceless gift, giving patients a chance to live. We hope that more and more people, especially young people, will actively participate in regular blood donation so that the blood reserve is always ensured, contributing to saving even more patients."
According to statistics from the Provincial Red Cross Society, in the first seven months of 2025, Quang Ninh organized 68 blood donation drives, attracting nearly 17,000 participants and receiving 14,394 units of blood, achieving 63% of the annual blood donation target. Notably, many agencies, units, schools, and armed forces have considered blood donation as an annual activity, creating a widespread movement.
The voluntary blood donation movement has become a deeply humane tradition, embodying the spirit of "Solidarity - Compassion - Responsibility for the Community." Every drop of blood donated not only contributes to saving the lives of critically ill patients but also represents a journey of sharing and spreading love, making life more meaningful.
