Good news from Project Market

The Film Project Market is also an activity that has left many impressions at HANIFF. The Project Market is increasingly attractive to young filmmakers, and at the same time calls for investors to participate in building and implementing quality projects, contributing to promoting the development of Vietnamese cinema to reach the world level.

Within the framework of HANIFF VII, the Film Project Market is also held for the 5th time, creating a playground, meeting and experience opportunity for filmmakers who wish to introduce their projects to investors and leading international production experts.

This year, at HANIFF VII, Project Market received a record number of participating projects - nearly 70 projects sent from more than 20 countries and territories. The organizers not only invited films from authors who are selective about their audience, but also more commercial films. The quality was assessed as "very high and diverse", causing the organizers to "spend a lot of time and have a lot of difficulty" in selecting 8 participating projects.

Vietnam alone has accounted for 4 projects including: I want to rent forever (producer Bui Le Nhat Tien/director McFloyd Nguyen), Memento Mori: Water (Marcus Manh Cuong Vu), People cry for hire (Do Son/Do Ha) and Blood curse (Nguyen Pham Hoang Quan/Nestor Sanchez Sotelo). The remaining four projects belong to India, Turkey, Bangladesh and Malaysia.

Although Vietnamese projects account for a large number, the Organizing Committee affirms that there is no bias towards the host country. Mr. Vi Kien Thanh said that the curator, consisting of 4 members: director Nguyen Phan Quang Binh (Vietnam), producer Jodi Hildebrand (USA), Thibaut Bracq (France), Lee Jin Sung (Korea), selected 8 projects that were assessed to be of the best quality, regardless of how many each country had.

At HANIFF VII, Project Market received a record number of participating projects - nearly 70 projects submitted from more than 20 countries and territories.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong also said: "Vietnamese cinema has developed very strongly in recent years. The fact that we account for half of the projects in the Film Project Market, including famous filmmakers and first-time authors, is a good sign."

Tonight, November 7, the Opening Ceremony of the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival will officially take place at the Hoan Kiem Theater, opening the most anticipated series of film events in 2024. We believe and expect that through the event, the HANIFF brand will be increasingly affirmed and enhanced, contributing to spreading the image and culture of Hanoi in particular, the country and people of Vietnam in general to the world. HANIFF VII will continue to make a good impression, making Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general a new destination on the world cinema map./.
