Journey of sowing love

In Son Duong district, when mentioning volunteer activities, it is impossible not to mention the Tan Hoa Red Cross Volunteer Team, Phuc Ung commune. Every time Tet comes, or when natural disasters and floods strike, where people are still in need, the team members enthusiastically organize Chung cake wrapping and prepare warm Tet gifts, meaningful gifts to send to the poor and people in difficult circumstances. Mr. Bong, the Team Leader shared: "Living in this world and seeing difficult circumstances, I could not hold back my tears, so I wanted to do meaningful things to help them. Gradually, seeing his practical work, many people joined hands."

Mr. Tran Cong Thanh and members of the Red Cross Volunteer Team of Tan Ha Ward received and transported supplies and necessities to poor households.

Mr. Trinh Dinh Bong, the volunteer team leader, shared with us about this meaningful journey. Starting in 2008 with only 15 members, the team now has more than 50 volunteers and has received regular support from 20 sponsors and benefactors. Over the past 17 years, tens of thousands of banh chung and thousands of gifts have been given away, bringing complete Tet holidays and warm human affection to many disadvantaged families and the poor. These are not only material gifts, but also feelings, sharing and faith in life.

In Ham Yen district, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tham, Head of the Volunteer Group of the “Loving Heart” Club in Binh Xa commune, is one of the typical faces in the volunteer movement. What makes many people admire Ms. Tham is not only her dedication, but also the extraordinary willpower of a woman who experienced a serious electric shock accident and had to have one arm amputated.

Although she herself seemed to be the one in need of help, Ms. Tham made an extraordinary effort to rise up and call for help for those in more difficult circumstances than herself: the poor, traffic accident victims, people in especially difficult circumstances... Sharing her motivation, Ms. Tham confided: "When doing charity work, you must put your heart first, you must put yourself in the situation of those in need, every time you help someone overcome difficulties, you and the benefactors feel truly happy". Recently, Ms. Tham was honored to be recognized by the Provincial Party Committee as an exemplary individual in studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh - a worthy recognition for her tireless contributions.

“Love others as you love yourself”

In Tuyen Quang city, Mr. Tran Cong Thanh, Deputy Secretary of Party Cell 13, Vice President of the Red Cross Society, and Head of the Red Cross Volunteer Team of Tan Ha Ward is a shining example of compassion and constant efforts for the community. In his role, Mr. Thanh is always proactive in propaganda work, mobilizing organizations, individuals, philanthropists and Red Cross officials and members to actively participate in the activities of the Society, especially social, charitable and humanitarian work.

Through the Association's activities and integrating local movements and campaigns, Mr. Thanh and his team have organized many practical and effective activities such as the program "Tet for the poor and victims of Agent Orange", the campaign "Each organization and individual is associated with a humanitarian address"...

The Association also organizes many other movements attracting a large number of cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees and people from all walks of life to participate, such as voluntary blood donation; coordinating with the Association for Promotion of Education to mobilize books, school supplies, bicycles, clothes, and scholarships to help poor but studious students; building charity houses and solidarity houses for people in difficult circumstances, poor households, fires, and unusual accidents, etc.

In addition to propaganda and mobilization work, Mr. Thanh also directly participates in humanitarian relief. He himself has volunteered to donate blood 8 times and actively mobilized members, volunteers and everyone to donate blood to save lives. From 2016 to 2020, Mr. Tran Cong Thanh participated in mobilizing agencies, units, organizations, localities, members, volunteers, people, philanthropists and benefactors to donate and support the construction and repair of 23 houses. In the past 5 years, the total value of social relief work reached over 4 billion VND.

Mr. Thanh shared: “As a humanitarian worker, I must always keep in mind that learning from Uncle Ho is first of all learning his benevolence, loving others as I love myself, learning from Uncle Ho, I must live humanely and affectionately with everyone. When I do humanitarian work, first of all, I and my family and relatives must always be exemplary, take the lead in all humanitarian work and always voluntarily support the human and material resources of the family in social, humanitarian and charitable activities. From there, good deeds will spread so that everyone, every family can do good deeds together...”.

Shining examples such as the Tan Hoa Red Cross volunteer team, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tham, or Mr. Tran Cong Thanh, through their specific and practical actions, have contributed to beautifying the nation's fine tradition of "mutual love", bringing warmth and faith to those in difficult circumstances. From their meaningful actions, they have contributed to spreading the "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style" in daily life, contributing to building an increasingly prosperous and developed society.
