On May 5, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department (Cyber Security Department) of Da Nang City Police announced that they are looking for victims of a scammer who sold tours, airline tickets, hotel room bookings... to steal billions of dong.
Previously, in early May 2023, the Cyber Security Department clarified that subject NTTTr. (25 years old, residing in Loc Ninh district, Binh Phuoc province) was one of the subjects using the above trick.
Specifically, Tr. used many junk SIM cards, fake Facebook, fake Zalo to join travel groups, sell airline tickets, and book hotel rooms.
Da Nang welcomed a large number of tourists during the recent April 30 and May 1 holidays.
Here, Tr. searches for customers in need, then sends messages to approach and understand their needs. Tr. will pretend to be a travel agency, airline ticket office, etc. and then provide information about attractive tours in order to steal their deposits.
To gain the trust of "customers", Tr. approached travel companies to learn and update information about prices, company policies and get contracts, and finally edited and provided fake information and fake accounts so that tourists would trust him and transfer money.
Initially, the Cyber Security Department determined that the subject had defrauded hundreds of people. With the fraudulent account Nguyen Huy Hoang of Vietinbank, which was only established in September 2022, there have been tens of thousands of transactions, with transaction amounts up to billions of VND.
In addition to expanding the investigation of the case, Da Nang City Police informed companies and individuals who were victims of the above-mentioned form of fraud to quickly contact the Department of Cyber Security and Anti-Crime Technology of Da Nang City Police (directly officer Pham Hoang Dung - Team 3, address: 80 Le Loi, Thach Thang Ward, Hai Chau District, Da Nang City; Phone: 0694.260.330; Email: [email protected]) to provide information.
