On the evening of February 6th (the 9th day of the first lunar month), Vinh Quang commune (City) held the opening ceremony of the Ky Sam Temple Festival. Attending the ceremony were: Mr. Quan Minh Cuong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Trinh Truong Huy, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; members of the Standing Committee; leaders of departments, agencies, and the City.
The Ky Sam Temple, built during the Ly Dynasty, is dedicated to the historical figure and renowned general Nung Tri Cao (1025-1053), of the Tay ethnic group, who contributed to the defense of his homeland during the reign of King Ly Thai Tong. Nung Tri Cao was the son of the chieftain Nung Ton Phuc and Mrs. A Nung. Intelligent and educated in the capital Thang Long, Nung Tri Cao became a skilled strategist. He had a glorious period, defeating the invading Song army, and was bestowed the title of Thai Bao by the king. His name is immortalized in history and is a source of pride for the people of Cao Bang . After his death, he was posthumously honored as Khau Sam Dai Vuong by King Ly. The temple was recognized as a National Historical and Cultural Monument in 1993.
The Ky Sam Temple Festival is held from the evening of the 9th to the end of the 10th day of the first lunar month, consisting of two parts: the ceremonial part and the festive part. The ceremonial part takes place on the night of the 9th with traditional rituals such as incense offerings and sacrifices, conducted solemnly and respectfully.
As the 1,000th anniversary of the birth of Khau Sam Dai Vuong Nung Tri Cao, this year's Ky Sam Temple Festival is organized with many impressive spring-themed artistic programs, bearing the distinct cultural identity of the people of the Cao Bang region.
From early morning, a large number of locals and tourists from all over flocked to the festival, not only to pray for good things for themselves and their families, but also to admire the beautiful scenery and the serene atmosphere of the sacred place in the spring, as well as to better understand the traditional culture of the nation and the folk beliefs of the locality.
The festival, held on February 7th (the 10th day of the first lunar month), included traditional folk games such as throwing the ball, bamboo swinging, grass pulling, chess, blindfolded ball hitting, etc., as well as spaces for Then singing, making Tinh musical instruments, calligraphy, and displaying local products, creating a lively and bustling atmosphere.
