Traveling to Da Mi during the hot season.

Việt NamViệt Nam24/04/2024

Besides tens of thousands of domestic and international tourists booking tours to Phan Thiet , hundreds of tourists from Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, etc., have booked tours to Da Mi for the April 30th holiday to experience the beauty of the mountains, forests, lakes, waterfalls, and especially to escape the heat.

Paintings depicting nature…

While many places in the South are experiencing scorching heat, the weather in Da Mi is quite cool. Early in the morning, as clouds drift over the mountain slopes, mist and water vapor intertwine in the middle of the Ham Thuan - Da Mi hydroelectric reservoir in Ham Thuan Bac, creating picturesque shapes and landscapes. In the distance, on the Cloud and Wind Hill, about 100 meters from the Ham Thuan lake shore, hundreds of tourists admire the lush green beauty of the mountains and the lake with boats gently drifting by, experiencing a unique feeling. Many are quite surprised to learn that the sunny and windy coastal region of Binh Thuan has a fertile, cool basalt red soil area with a climate similar to Da Lat, called Da Mi. Da Mi is about 70 km from the center of Phan Thiet City. Located approximately 170 km from Ho Chi Minh City , Da Mi boasts significant tourism potential, with its abundant forests, mountains, lakes, and waterfalls offering opportunities for nature-based outdoor activities such as camping, fishing on Ham Thuan - Da Mi Lake, waterfall rafting, boat trips on Ham Thuan Lake, and trekking in Da Mi. Situated hundreds of meters above sea level, the air here is always cool and refreshing. The picturesque scenery of Da Mi, combined with the fresh mountain air and the fragrant scent of wildflowers in the early morning, is a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of city life. Often described as a hidden gem waiting to shine, the addition of the Vinh Hao – Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet – Dau Giay expressways, the upgraded DT 714 road, and National Highway 55 has further enhanced Da Mi's tourism development opportunities. Many tourists have been flocking to Da Mi more and more, not only to admire the magnificent natural scenery, but also to enjoy the local fruit specialties, especially durian, avocado, and mango.

Expectations for a new tourist destination.

Joining a tour of Da Mi, visitors can enjoy leisurely walks and admire the scenery on Ham Thuan Lake, gazing at the majestic green mountains and the gently flowing water. Those who enjoy immersing themselves in the vast expanse of the lake can take a boat trip around the lake, or visit any island to admire the scenery and experience the orchards laden with fruit such as avocados, macadamia nuts, durians, and mangoes… Unlike the powerful, rushing waves of the open sea, the boat ride on the gentle ripples will bring you moments of peace. With its pristine forest beauty, Da Mi also boasts the mysterious and captivating beauty of Ham Thuan Lake, often likened to a miniature Ha Long Bay.

Da Mi, often nicknamed "Da Mi's first waterfall," is famous for its many stunning waterfalls that captivate visitors. Possessing a dreamy beauty amidst the majestic scenery of more than 20 large and small mountains, it stands out as a pure and bright spot. Visiting Da Mi, tourists can enjoy a boat trip on Ham Thuan Lake. Cruising around the lake, the emerald green waters stretch as far as the eye can see, dotted with dozens of small islands covered in lush greenery, and a few fishing boats casting nets, creating a picturesque scene. The lake's turquoise color offers a fresh, relaxing, and tranquil feeling. The presence of small islets in the middle of the lake adds to the vibrant beauty of this picturesque landscape. After visiting Ham Thuan Lake, tourists can also take a trip to Te Thien Island, also known as Turtle Island. It's called Turtle Island because, viewed from above, the island resembles a turtle resting in the middle of the lake. The island known as Tề Thiên (Monkey Island) was named by locals because it used to have an abundance of wild fruits, attracting many monkeys. Besides Turtle Island, Tề Thiên in Hàm Thuận Lake also includes 50 other small islands and 9 larger islands such as Địa Long (Dragon Island), Xương Rắn (Snake Bone Island), Bàn Tay Phật (Buddha's Hand Island), etc.

Perhaps the most enjoyable experience is the boat trip to Qitian Island to admire the scenic beauty. Camping is available there, and visitors can enjoy free samples of fruits such as durian, mangosteen, avocado, mango, banana, star fruit, rambutan, and macadamia nuts… In addition, visitors can try thrilling activities like speedboat surfing on the lake.

With an area of nearly 200 hectares and surrounded by mountains, this place always has fresh, peaceful air, perfect for camping, barbecues with family and friends, and watching the sunset and starry night sky. Besides learning about history and exploring the natural beauty, most tourists visiting Da Mi also want to enjoy local specialties such as catfish and carp raised naturally in Ham Thuan Lake, sturgeon from Da Mi Lake, free-range chicken, and dishes made with betel leaves and dandelion leaves, all with authentic local flavors.

Binh Thuan is encouraging and creating favorable conditions for businesses and people to invest in developing tourism products such as resort tourism, forest-waterfall-lake ecotourism, nature-conquering tourism, agricultural ecotourism, and community tourism combined with homestays. Da Mi currently possesses these qualities and is gradually improving to become an attractive destination connecting with other localities in the province, forming a coastal-forest-lake-waterfall tourism route.
