Lebanon's state news agency, citing military sources, reported that Israeli attacks across southern Lebanon on June 6 killed at least 14 people, including three Lebanese soldiers.
Lebanese soldiers were attacked while patrolling the Khardali-Kfar Tebnit road in the Nabatieh area.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it has launched an investigation into the attack, stating that the vehicle was discovered in an area of intense fighting amid intelligence indicating a threat from Hezbollah.
The IDF emphasized that its operations were aimed at Hezbollah, not the Lebanese army.
In a statement on June 6, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun emphasized that the incident violated Lebanon's sovereignty and international law, stating that the escalating military action threatens stability and security in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese president called on the international community to increase its role and responsibility in preventing a recurrence of such events and ensuring compliance with relevant resolutions.
Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri rejected Israel's explanation, emphasizing that the attack was neither a mistake nor an accident.
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon condemned the attack as a “serious violation” of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
Meanwhile, Iran rejected criticism from the Lebanese president that Iran was interfering in Lebanon's internal affairs and using Lebanon as a "bargaining chip" in negotiations with the United States.
In a social media post, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the Lebanese president's remarks ignored Israel's role in the current conflict.
