On October 23rd, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of the Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, provided information about the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday schedule for students in 2024.

Mr. Minh stated that, according to the 2023-2024 school year timetable for preschool, general education , and continuing education issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the city stipulates the Lunar New Year holiday schedule for students as follows:

Preschool children and primary and secondary school students will have their Lunar New Year holiday from February 5th, 2024 (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month) to February 18th, 2024 (the 9th day of the Lunar New Year). The holiday period is 14 days. In addition, including the two weekend days off on February 3rd and 4th, and the 24th and 25th of the 12th lunar month, the total holiday period is 16 days.

Previously, the Ministry of Interior had sent a document to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs regarding their input on the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2024. After receiving the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs' letter outlining two options for the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday, the Ministry of Interior studied the draft document to be sent to the Prime Minister. According to the draft, the Ministry of Interior agrees with Option 1 as proposed by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs. Civil servants and public employees will have a Lunar New Year holiday from February 8th, 2024 (29th day of the 12th lunar month) to February 14th, 2024 (5th day of the 1st lunar month), totaling 7 days of holiday.
