On October 23, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, informed about the upcoming 2024 Lunar New Year holiday schedule for students.

Mr. Minh said that according to the 2023-2024 school year schedule for preschooleducation , general education and continuing education issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the city stipulates the Lunar New Year holiday schedule for students as follows:

Preschool children and primary school students will have Tet holiday starting from February 5, 2024 (ie December 26th of the lunar calendar) to February 18, 2024 (ie December 9th of the lunar calendar). The holiday period is 14 days. In addition, with 2 weekend days off on February 3rd and 4th, and December 24th and 25th, the total holiday period is 16 days.

Previously, the Ministry of Home Affairs had sent a document to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to consult on the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2024. After receiving the official dispatch from the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs on 2 options for the Lunar New Year holiday in 2024, the Ministry of Home Affairs studied the draft document to send to the Prime Minister. According to the draft, the Ministry of Home Affairs agreed with option 1 as proposed by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs. Officials, civil servants and public employees will have the Lunar New Year holiday in 2024 from February 8, 2024 (December 29) to February 14, 2024 (January 5), with a total of 7 days off.
