As of the morning of July 2nd, the 2026 World Cup has determined 10 teams that will participate in the Round of 16 (out of 16 teams), corresponding to 5 matchups, including: Canada-Morocco, Paraguay- France , Brazil-Norway, Mexico-England, and USA-Belgium.

Among the teams that reached the round of 16, top contenders for the championship such as France, Brazil, and England were evident. However, there were still major surprises, with Paraguay eliminating Germany and Morocco eliminating the Netherlands in similar scenarios, both winning on penalties.

As of July 2nd, the 2026 World Cup will have featured 82 matches, with 241 goals scored (an average of 2.94 goals per match) and over 5.3 million spectators – record numbers in World Cup history.
