Liverpool ignore Alonso

The club based at Anfield has no intention of bringing Xabi Alonso up to replace Arne Slot, despite the disappointing results recently.

However, reputable journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic quickly refuted these reports. According to him, Liverpool still fully supports Arne Slot and has no plans to sack the Dutch manager in the near future.

Speaking on The Athletic 's podcast, Ornstein said that Liverpool's leadership believes Slot is the right man to lead the team. The Dutch manager is currently under contract until 2027 and still enjoys the club's trust.

After winning the title last season, the Anfield team unexpectedly suffered a slump, losing nine matches and currently sitting in sixth place in the league table. The risk of failing to qualify for the Champions League next season is creating significant pressure on the coaching staff and management of the Merseyside club.

The situation became even more tense after the 0-1 defeat to Galatasaray in Istanbul in the Champions League round of 16 earlier this week. This result has led many to question Liverpool's ability to compete in the remainder of the season.
