The bridge from producer to consumer
The Provincial Post Office recently organized a Livestream program titled "Megalive with the Youth Union of the Vinh Long Provincial Post Office" on its Facebook Fanpage. The livestream lasted over an hour, attracting over 200 viewers at times, along with numerous positive comments and interactions from consumers regarding products sold at the Provincial Post Office and consumer goods distributed by the Vietnam Post Corporation throughout its system.
Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy Director of the Provincial Post Office, said that the Provincial Post Office is currently selecting to implement the first livestream sessions through its youth union members to gain practical experience. After this phase, the unit plans to expand cooperation with relevant agencies to organize larger-scale promotional programs, focusing on local agricultural products, specialties, and OCOP products. The advantage of the postal sector is its extensive transportation network and service points covering many localities. By combining livestreaming and e-commerce with the existing logistics network, the unit can support direct connections from producers to consumers, contributing to reducing intermediary costs and solving one of the biggest difficulties currently faced by businesses and cooperatives: product distribution.
“ Vinh Long has many specialty fruits that have an advantage in participating in e-commerce thanks to their relatively long shelf life, such as pomelo, durian, and mangosteen... If well organized from packaging and preservation to transportation, these products have the potential to expand their consumer market. Besides supporting the introduction of products to the digital environment, the post office will accompany and create favorable conditions for producers, cooperatives, and businesses to confidently participate in online sales channels,” Ms. Binh said.
Livestream sessions contribute to introducing products to consumers, creating more opportunities for businesses, cooperatives, and OCOP (One Commune One Product) entities to access new markets. This is also one of the forms of trade promotion support that many units are interested in during the digital transformation of production and business activities.
Change your business mindset.
Recently, many organizations and businesses have intensified their efforts to support people, cooperatives, and businesses in accessing modern business methods through livestreaming and e-commerce. According to Ms. To Lan Phuong, Director of Viettel Post Vinh Long, product promotion programs on digital platforms have attracted the participation of many content creators, contributing to the vivid introduction of local products and traditional crafts, and gradually expanding the consumer market.

More importantly, these activities are contributing to a shift in people's business mindset, moving them from primarily relying on traders and traditional sales channels to proactively seeking customers through digital platforms. However, this transformation cannot happen in a short time and requires the collaboration of regulatory agencies, platform providers, and shipping companies through training, guidance, and technical support.
Ms. Vo Thi Kim Anh, owner of Kim Anh Jam Production Facility (Trung Hiep commune), said that in addition to maintaining traditional distribution channels, the facility has proactively participated in e-commerce platforms such as Shopee and TikTok Shop, and boosted livestream sales on digital platforms. Currently, the facility offers 7 products made from local fruits such as dried tamarind jam, gooseberry jam, star fruit jam, dried banana jam, etc., which are regularly introduced to customers through live streams. According to Ms. Kim Anh, livestreaming helps promote products and creates opportunities for direct interaction with consumers. As a result, the number of online orders is increasingly stable, with the facility currently processing 30-50 orders per day through online sales channels.
According to Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, the industry and trade sector has implemented many activities to support businesses, cooperatives, and production households in applying e-commerce in their production and business activities. Specifically, the sector has focused on organizing training courses on digital sales skills, electronic payments, and the use of transportation services; and supporting businesses in product traceability, especially for typical rural industrial products and local specialties.
In reality, e-commerce is increasingly asserting its role as an effective distribution channel, helping to reach customers faster and overcome geographical limitations. Through digital platforms, local products have the opportunity to appear before thousands of customers simultaneously, significantly reducing costs for rent, advertising, and other intermediary expenses. E-commerce also creates opportunities for agricultural products and local specialties to gradually access international markets. This is considered a suitable direction in the context of the strong digital transformation taking place in many fields.
In the coming period, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue to support businesses, cooperatives, OCOP entities, and people in the digital transformation process through training programs, guidance on online sales skills, support for trade promotion, industrial promotion, and product quality improvement. This will contribute to increasing value, enhancing competitiveness, and expanding sustainable markets for local agricultural products and specialties in the digital environment.
