According to the plan, the live concert "Come Back Here, Four Sky Birds" - honoring the music of Van Cao, Pham Duy, Trinh Cong Son, and Tran Tien - is scheduled to take place at 8 PM on December 28th at the My Dinh Athletics Stadium in Hanoi.

However, on the evening of December 28th, after the audience had been allowed into the venue and were waiting until around 8:30 PM, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Director of Ngoc Viet Education Company - the organizer of the "Come Here, Four Wings of the Sky" music night - announced that the program had been canceled.

In performing arts, it's not uncommon for a show to be postponed or canceled due to unforeseen circumstances (artist's health, natural disasters, technical issues). However, the way "Come Back Here, Four Sky Birds" disappeared from the schedule is the worst possible scenario imaginable.

In the digital age, where a message can spread in an instant, the organizers' failure to provide an official announcement before audience members arrived at the venue is an inexcusable operational failure.

The delayed announcement and lack of a clear solution angered many viewers, who demanded refunds and subsequently filed reports with the police.

The last-minute cancellation of the music program "Come Back Here, Four Sky Birds" exposed a major gap in the ticket buyer protection and risk management mechanisms of the Vietnamese performing arts market. In countries with developed entertainment industries, show cancellations are mostly anticipated through insurance and standardized legal procedures.

Many risk management models have been standardized globally. With escrow mechanisms, in the UK and some European countries, large shows often use "escrow accounts" managed by a third party. Ticket proceeds are frozen and only released in stages according to the contract, preventing organizers from misusing funds before the event takes place.

Meanwhile, South Korea and Japan use standardized model contracts that detail responsibilities and cancellation conditions, helping to minimize the criminalization of civil disputes.

In Vietnam, mechanisms such as "insurance funds" or "escrow accounts" are almost non-existent. Many in the industry believe that show cancellations in Vietnam are still considered unexpected incidents and are handled based on goodwill between the parties involved.

Therefore, the cancellation of the "Come Back Here, Four Wings of the Sky" show is not just an unfortunate incident, but a reminder that the Vietnamese performing arts market needs to shift to a professional risk management system.

Only when risks are "packaged" with insurance and regulations can audiences truly be protected and the entertainment industry achieve sustainable growth.
