Free Japanese language class

Việt NamViệt Nam07/08/2023

“I passed the healthcare skills test and the Japanese language proficiency test (N4). I am currently preparing all the necessary procedures to go to Japan for work in December 2023. This course has opened up a bright future for me.” This is the sharing of Pham Kiem Khoa (born in 1995, from Quang Nam province) after participating in a free Japanese language class organized by the Association for the Protection of Disabled People and Orphans of the city in collaboration with the Zeno Shounen Bokujo social welfare organization (Japan).

According to Nguyen Hoang Long, Chairman of the Association for the Protection of Disabled People and Orphans in Ho Chi Minh City, the class, organized by the association in collaboration with the Zeno Shounen Bokujo Social Welfare Organization (Japan), is for working-age students from disadvantaged backgrounds who cannot afford paid Japanese language classes and who wish to work at social welfare facilities in Japan or at Japanese businesses in Vietnam to increase their income and become independent.

According to Mr. Long, the class is taught directly by Mr. Takahashi Jun. To date, the second course, which started on July 3rd, has attracted 17 students. Mr. Takahashi Jun, from Hiroshima Prefecture (Japan), shared: “The first course started during a time when the Covid-19 pandemic was still ongoing, so we taught and learned online. My students are very diligent, enthusiastic, and always strive to learn, which is a great encouragement for me. This has made me want to help more Vietnamese students understand Japanese culture and language so that when they come to Japan to work, they will adapt to life there more quickly.”

According to Mr. Pham Kiem Khoa, besides teaching the language, Mr. Takahashi Jun equips students with other knowledge such as Japanese culture and lifestyle, helping them understand the Japanese way of life. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long said that the Japanese language class not only provides students with language knowledge but also creates an environment for Japanese and Vietnamese people to exchange cultures. These cultural similarities also form the basis for a better relationship between the two countries. The Zeno Shounen Bokujo Organization's support for social welfare issues in the city demonstrates Japan's deep affection for Vietnam.

Ms. Uchida Miho, Head of the International Department of Zeno Shounen Bokujo Social Welfare Organization, expressed: “When we started implementing the project “Integrated Support Activities to Enhance Social Welfare in Da Nang City” (2023-2025), we received a great deal of support and assistance from the city government and the people here. We believe that the good relationship between the people of the two countries is a prerequisite for developing a deeper diplomatic relationship between Japan and Vietnam. In the future, the organization will also support its staff to go to Japan to exchange experiences in management and improve skills in caring for and nurturing people with disabilities, orphans, and other disadvantaged people.”
