On January 6th, the Traffic Police Department announced that its Facebook page was disrupted from 5 PM to 11 PM on January 5th due to Meta's community standards review. The page's profile picture also disappeared as the platform re-verified its account. Currently, the Department's fan page is back to normal operation. Created in 2019, the page currently has over 600,000 followers and serves as a tool for authorities to update information and regulations, as well as receive reports of violations from the public.

Upon resuming operations, the Traffic Police Department reported receiving 248 reports of traffic safety violations. Of these, six cases had sufficient grounds for verification by relevant units. The remaining 242 reports lacked sufficient grounds for processing due to the absence of violations or unclear license plates.

Also on January 6th, through its official account, Meta, Facebook's parent company, confirmed a serious technical error on its platform. Specifically, the social network stated that the company had identified an issue affecting accounts in Vietnam, and its team was prioritizing the resolution. Some users have already had their accounts restored.

The social media platform did not specify the exact cause or technical issue. However, in just the past few days, a large number of popular Facebook pages in Vietnam, with millions of followers, have simultaneously disappeared.

The affected groups, including VTV24, VTV3, and The Anh 28 Entertainment, have been inaccessible since January 4th. The personal pages of celebrities such as streamer Do Mixi and singer Jack have also experienced similar issues.

By the morning of January 5th, the VTV24 and VTV3 Facebook pages were back online. However, numerous accounts with large followings in Vietnam disappeared. The impact is spreading, affecting personal accounts and sectors beyond news and entertainment.

Other affected pages include the fan pages of Tuyen Van Hoa, Beatvn, Top Comment, and The Gioi Showbiz, all multi-faceted news accounts on Facebook with millions of followers. Pages aimed at young people, such as Diem Thong Nhat and Leu Bao, are also inaccessible. Additionally, the Facebook page of the Saigon Phantoms Liên Quân (Arena of Valor) team has disappeared.

Most accounts with a large following have now been reactivated. However, some pages are still unable to restore their profile pictures.
