A home for children with special needs.
Amidst the serene atmosphere of Phuc Khanh Pagoda, the laughter and chatter of children still echo daily. This place is not only a place of worship but also a home for children with special circumstances, children who need to be protected with love and patience.
Currently, the pagoda is caring for two children: Tran Huu Gia Bao (12 years old), from Hung Yen province , and Bui Nguyen Ngoc Quang (9 years old). Gia Bao was sent to the pagoda by his family when he was 8 years old, while Ngoc Quang was abandoned as a child and later transferred from another pagoda to Phuc Khanh Pagoda for care and upbringing. The names Gia Bao and Ngoc Quang were given by Venerable Thich Quang Phuc, the abbot of the pagoda, with the hope that they will always maintain the light of faith and strength on their journey to adulthood.
Due to their hyperactivity, Gia Bao and Ngoc Quang face many difficulties in their studies and daily lives. Although they are 12 and 9 years old respectively, they are currently in the third grade. However, both of them love going to school. In class, they always receive love and care from their teachers and classmates. Thanks to the support of the school and the dedicated care of the temple, they are making progress, becoming more attentive and sociable.

Venerable Thich Quang Phuc has been the abbot of Phuc Khanh Pagoda since 2017. Throughout his monastic life and involvement with the local community, he has always shown special concern for disadvantaged children. For him, nurturing these children is not only a responsibility but also an act of sharing stemming from the compassion of a Buddhist monk.
When they first arrived at the temple, the children were shy and faced many difficulties in communication and daily life. However, thanks to the care and love of the monks at the temple, they have undergone many positive changes. Bui Nguyen Ngoc Quang shared: "I like being at the temple because the monks take care of me and let me go to school. I will try to be well-behaved and study harder."
Every day, outside of school hours, the children are guided in simple life skills, cared for in terms of meals and sleep, and given opportunities to participate in activities suitable to their abilities. Under the peaceful roof of the temple, they may not have had a complete childhood like many other children, but they are living in love and compassion. For them, the temple is not just a place to shelter from the rain and sun, but also a second home, a place that nurtures their dreams of a better future.
Spread love

Besides caring for the spiritual lives of the people, Phuc Khanh Pagoda actively participates in social welfare activities, helping those in difficult circumstances in the area. Its long-standing commitment to fostering and caring for children with special needs is one of its humane acts recognized and appreciated by the local government and people.
Mr. Dong Minh Dai, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kim Thanh commune, said: "The pagoda has always been involved in local charitable movements and activities. In particular, its care and nurturing of disadvantaged children and children with hyperactivity has helped to share the burden with families and society. These quiet but responsible actions of the pagoda have spread a spirit of compassion throughout the community."
Venerable Thich Quang Phuc shared: “These children all come from disadvantaged backgrounds, so the temple tries its best to care for and educate them like family members. Our greatest hope is that they will be healthy, able to take care of themselves, learn to read and write, and gradually integrate into life. Just seeing them progress every day makes us very happy.”
From daily meals and lessons to kind guidance and companionship in the children's growth, the temple is quietly sowing the seeds of compassion. More than just a refuge for Gia Bao and Ngoc Quang, Phuc Khanh Temple is also a spiritual anchor for many local residents.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of life, the quiet acts of kindness at the Buddhist temple have helped to rekindle faith in humanity, sharing, and responsibility towards the community. The warmth emanating from this small temple not only comforts those less fortunate but also spreads positive and humane values throughout society.
