Rayan Cherki is a versatile player and is considered capable of replacing Kevin De Bruyne. |
According to The Athletic , Manchester City have reached an agreement on a transfer fee of around €40 million, and Cherki has agreed to sign a contract until 2030. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano used his familiar phrase "Here we go" to confirm the deal is complete.
Cherki is expected to be part of Manchester City's squad for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which will take place in the US in the middle of this month. Man City will face Wydad AC on June 18th, followed by matches against Al Ain (June 23rd) and Juventus (June 27th).
In the 2024/25 season, Cherki achieved the most impressive attacking record of his career, scoring 12 goals and providing 20 assists. He also scored in both legs of Lyon's 6-7 defeat to Manchester United in the Europa League semi-final. Cherki was named in the Europa League Team of the Year and received his first call-up to the French national team in June.
He made his debut for the French national team in the Nations League semi-final against Spain and scored, before starting in the third-place playoff win against Germany.
"The Citizens" have completed three signings worth over €120 million, including Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Rayan Cherki. The Etihad Stadium team wants to have the strongest possible squad for the upcoming tournament in the United States.
Following the UEFA Nations League matches, Man City are likely to announce these signings. To make way for the new players, Jack Grealish and James McAtee may leave.
