Rayan Cherki plays flexibly and is considered capable of replacing Kevin De Bruyne.

According to The Athletic , Manchester City reached an agreement on a transfer fee of around 40 million euros, and Cherki agreed to sign a contract until 2030. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano used the familiar phrase "Here we go" to confirm the deal was completed.

Cherki is expected to be part of Man City's squad for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the US in mid-month. Man City will face Wydad AC on June 18, followed by matches against Al Ain (June 23) and Juventus (June 27).

In the 2024/25 season, Cherki achieved the most impressive attacking record of his career, scoring 12 goals and adding 20 assists. He also scored in both legs as Lyon lost 6-7 to Manchester United in the Europa League semi-finals. Cherki was named in the Europa League Team of the Season and received his first call-up to the French national team in June.

He made his France debut in the Nations League semi-final against Spain and scored, before starting in the third-place play-off win over Germany.

"The Citizens" completed three deals worth more than 120 million euros including Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Rayan Cherki. The Etihad team wants to have the strongest force for the upcoming tournament in the US.

After the UEFA Nations League matches, Man City are likely to announce the above deals. To make way for new players, Jack Grealish and James McAtee may leave.
