Antoine Semenyo is on Man City's radar. |
According to The Times , Pep Guardiola's side are considering triggering a £65m release clause for Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo.
Despite upgrading the squad over the past 12 months with many faces such as Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Khusanov, Rayan Cherki, Donnarumma, Ait-Nouri or Tijjani Reijnders, Man City still believe they need more breakthroughs to compete with Arsenal in the long run.
That’s why they’re targeting Semenyo. The 25-year-old striker is in scintillating form, with six goals and three assists in 12 games, making him one of the Premier League’s most exciting attackers. His ability to play on both wings and centrally, combined with his two-footedness, makes him the perfect tactical piece for Guardiola.
His arrival could ease the pressure on Erling Haaland this season. While Jeremy Doku has made strong progress, the other two wingers, Oscar Bobb and Savinho, have been disappointing, with Savinho scoring just one goal in 15 appearances.
A good advantage is that Semenyo is not busy with CAN 2025, because Ghana did not qualify. This helps him be ready to compete throughout the December - January period. On the contrary, Omar Marmoush is likely to be absent for nearly a month when he returns to serve the Egyptian team.
Man City insiders believe Semenyo could be the missing piece to help them keep up with Arsenal and retain their hopes of defending their title.
