Antoine Semenyo is on Manchester City's radar. |
According to The Times , Pep Guardiola's team is considering activating the £65 million release clause for striker Antoine Semenyo, a rising star at Bournemouth.
Despite upgrading their squad over the past 12 months with many new faces such as Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Khusanov, Rayan Cherki, Donnarumma, Ait-Nouri and Tijjani Reijnders, Man City still believe they need more impact to compete with Arsenal in the long run.
That's why they're targeting Semenyo. The 25-year-old forward is in brilliant form with 6 goals and 3 assists in 12 games, becoming one of the most notable attacking players in the Premier League. His ability to play on both wings and in the center, plus his ambidextrousness, makes Semenyo a perfect tactical fit for Guardiola.
His arrival could relieve some of the pressure on Erling Haaland this season. While Jeremy Doku has been making significant progress, the other two wingers, Oscar Bobb and Savinho, have been disappointing, especially Savinho, who has only scored one goal in 15 appearances.
One significant advantage is that Semenyo is not busy with the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, as Ghana did not qualify. This allows him to be available to play throughout the December-January period. In contrast, Omar Marmoush is likely to be absent for almost a month as he returns to serve the Egyptian national team.
Inside Man City, there's a belief that Semenyo could be the missing piece to help them catch up with Arsenal and keep their hopes of defending the title alive.
