On May 12, the Border Guard Command of An Giang province said that the unit had just discovered a case of impersonation to defraud and appropriate assets of a business.

Previously, on May 7, a subject contacted via Zalo (claiming to be Nguyen Hoang Hieu, working at the Provincial Border Guard Command), ordering 260 bricks at Tan Dai Phat Construction Materials Store (Vinh My Ward, Chau Doc City). The total value of the goods was nearly 27 million VND, the subject promised to pay in cash when the goods were delivered to the agency.

The next day, the subject continued to contact, asking the store to ship the goods, and at the same time sent Mr. PHN (store owner) a purchase declaration report, signed by Colonel Tran Quoc Khanh (Commander of the Provincial Border Guard), with a red stamp. Immediately after that, the subject asked to buy a bottle of termite killer (an item the store does not sell), and introduced another place that sells termite killer. A strange phone number contacted to offer termite killer, asking the store to deposit 10 million VND for delivery. The sales staff raised their vigilance and contacted the Provincial Border Guard officers to verify. As a result, the "purchase declaration report" was fake. When discovered, the subject deleted Zalo and blocked communication.

The Provincial Border Guard Command recommends that agencies, departments and branches in the province increase propaganda and vigilance; coordinate to fight and prevent similar fraudulent acts. People and businesses need to carefully check contact information and documents before making transactions.
