These days, as the military and people nationwide are enthusiastically organizing activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025), the officers and soldiers of Radar Station 11, Radar Regiment 292, Air Defense Division 377, stationed on Truong Sa Island, are intensifying the "Rapid - Decisive Victory" emulation campaign with practical and effective actions.

With the mission of maintaining combat readiness and managing the airspace of the sacred Truong Sa archipelago of the Fatherland, the officers and soldiers of Radar Station 11 always pay attention to combat readiness training, especially focusing on improving the skills of the command post combat crew and the radar crew; and fostering the capabilities and skills of the technical staff to ensure the successful completion of tasks in all situations. Besides the duty of maintaining combat readiness, the unit's Party committee and command always prioritize building the agency, instilling discipline, and strictly implementing the established procedures for political education and legal education for all personnel.

Recognizing combat readiness as a key political task, from the beginning of the year, the Party Committee and Command of Radar Station 11 have thoroughly implemented directives, plans, and guidelines from higher levels regarding combat readiness to 100% of officers and soldiers in the unit. This has enhanced awareness and a sense of responsibility in performing their duties; closely coordinated with forces on the island to protect major holidays and important political events of the Party, State, and military, especially the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country; and strictly maintained the routine of guard duty, observation post, and visual observation post, closely monitoring the situation in the assigned area and reporting promptly and according to regulations. To enhance the combat readiness of the troops, the Party committee and branches have focused on leading efforts to improve the quality of training, identifying training as one of the two breakthroughs in 2025. The unit focuses on training to improve command skills and coordination between the unit and other forces on the island, effectively utilizing the VRE and VRS systems to best serve combat readiness and airspace management.

Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Duc Thung, Head of Radar Station 11, stated: “The unit has consistently and seriously implemented directives from higher authorities. The Party cell has issued a resolution guiding the training tasks for 2025. The unit has proactively prepared sufficient materials, training models, books, and lesson plans in accordance with guidelines to serve the training mission. The training process has been conducted in accordance with the “3 viewpoints, 8 principles, and 6 combinations” in the correct order from low to high, from simple to complex.”

Sergeant Vu Minh Lam (from Long Thanh, Dong Nai province), a radar operator, said: “During regular training and combat crew training, the unit commanders pay great attention to building physical endurance, courage, and a strong mentality for the soldiers to meet the requirements of the mission. The unit regularly coordinates with forces on the island to organize cultural and artistic activities, and sports to create a cheerful and united atmosphere among the units; at the same time, it improves health and enriches the spiritual life of the soldiers.”

At the end of the first month of training, the unit successfully completed its training tasks and targets, demonstrated combat readiness, managed airspace, and promptly handled all situations in the air and on the ground, contributing to the firm protection of the sacred airspace, sea, and islands of the Fatherland.

In addition to combat readiness and airspace management, the unit also focuses on increasing production and improving the lives of its soldiers. Despite the harsh weather and climate conditions on the island, which make growing and caring for vegetables difficult, the officers and soldiers of Radar Station 11, with their self-reliance and determination, have strived to maintain a vegetable garden, contributing to improving the soldiers' meals. Currently, the unit has over 300 square meters of enclosed vegetable gardens with walls and roofs. Furthermore, the unit's leaders and commanders always encourage officers and soldiers to make full use of available space around their living quarters, utilizing styrofoam containers, sheets of cardboard, and carefully collecting soil sent from the mainland to grow gourds, pumpkins, and cucumbers. To achieve this success, the officers and soldiers have had to conserve and utilize freshwater resources to prioritize agricultural production. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the officers and soldiers, the unit has become self-sufficient in over 90% of its vegetables, contributing to improving the quality of meals and ensuring the well-being of the troops.

In anticipation of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, the officers and soldiers of Radar Station 11 are continuing the "lightning-fast" strides of the past, always maintaining a high level of vigilance, readiness for combat, and airspace management. They are determined not to let the Fatherland be caught off guard by any aerial situations, and together with the military and people on Truong Sa Island, they are firmly protecting the sacred airspace, sea, and islands of the Fatherland. Far from their homeland, the sky-guarding soldiers of Radar Station 11 continue their tireless work day and night, like the radar waves silently rotating, reaching far, like a pair of "divine eyes," guarding the peaceful skies of the Fatherland.
