This special edition calculator, based on the legendary Casio model, features a handcrafted lacquer finish and is limited to only 650 units worldwide.

Casio's latest pocket calculator model is codenamed S100X-JC1-U. Dubbed "The Special One," only 650 units will be produced worldwide .

Compared to Casio wristwatches, special editions are rarely seen on pocket calculators. With the S100X-JC1-U, the case is made of aluminum, and the finish is hand-painted using traditional Japanese lacquer resin, giving it a glossy black surface and a unique sheen.

Casio collaborated with Yamakyu Shitsuki, a Japanese company specializing in lacquerware since 1930, to create the unique finish for the product. According to Hypebeast , artisan Ryuji Umeda spent over a month perfecting the lacquer technique.

The buttons and frame are bordered in red, with gold-plated letters and numbers. The product's screen displays 12 bold blue digits on a white background, mimicking the color of ink. This screen uses FSTN LCD technology, offering higher contrast than most other pocket calculators.

The S100X-JC1-U's keyboard uses a scissor mechanism similar to many laptops, providing a clear and consistent key press regardless of whether the user presses in the center or at the corner of the key.

Although not a high-end calculator, the S100X still supports currency conversion and Three-Key Rollover, allowing you to press three keys simultaneously at high speed without losing numbers.

The special edition Casio S100X weighs 275g, uses a CR2025 battery combined with solar power, and can operate for about 7 years if used for 1 hour per day. The back of the watch has a laser-engraved serial number, and the packaging is black with gold embossed details.

The product is currently being sold in Japan for 100,000 yen (approximately $630 ). The company has not yet announced plans to distribute this model internationally.
