At Diego Armando Maradona's home ground, Napoli had an impressive victory over Empoli thanks to the attack playing at full strength. Before the match, coach Antonio Conte's team was under pressure as they were 6 points behind leaders Inter Milan after a 3-1 win over Cagliari last weekend.

Napoli's first goal came in the 18th minute, when Lukaku escaped pressure and passed the ball to McTominay. The Scotland international's long-range shot went beyond goalkeeper Devis Vásquez to open the scoring for Napoli. Lukaku then added his own goal in the 56th minute.

Just five minutes later, McTominay completed his double with a powerful header from Lukaku's pass that hit the crossbar. The pair continued to cause trouble for the Empoli defence, and McTominay could have had a hat-trick had his shot not been denied by the post.

These were also McTominay's 7th and 8th goals in Serie A this season. After the match, the midfielder praised Lukaku's talent: "Romelu is a great teammate. He always demands a lot from the whole team and from me to be able to score more goals. Romelu also wants me to create more scoring opportunities for him."

Napoli have a relatively easy schedule in their remaining six Serie A games, with the majority of them facing teams currently in the bottom half of the table. The Neapolitan club’s next game is an away trip to bottom-placed Monza on April 19.

Currently, the gap between Napoli and Inter is only 3 points.
