(Dan Tri Newspaper) - A parent in Da Nang repeatedly transferred money to an "employee" of a beautiful handwriting contest to register their child to participate. However, after transferring 55 million VND, the "employee" lost contact.

On November 19th, the leaders of the Education and Training Department of Cam Le District, Da Nang City, announced that they had received reports from parents who suspected they were scammed out of money when registering their children for a beautiful handwriting competition. The parents have children attending Ngo Quyen Primary School.

Specifically, when a parent saw a handwriting contest online with content similar to one organized by a company in Hanoi , they registered their child to participate.

After registering, parents were instructed by "staff" to transfer 55 million VND to the organizer's account to participate in the competition. However, after transferring the full amount, the parents were unable to contact the "staff" who had instructed them to complete the procedures for their children to participate in the calligraphy competition.

A representative from the Cam Le District Department of Education and Training stated that the parent had reported the incident to the school. The department has requested the principal to disseminate information to parents and students to raise awareness and vigilance against online crime.

At the same time, special attention should be paid to scams through online contests, requests for money transfers, personal information, or links to websites of unknown origin.

The leaders of the Cam Le District Department of Education and Training also noted that schools need to guide parents and students to carefully check the authenticity of programs and only participate in competitions organized by reputable agencies and organizations.

A representative from the company that organized the calligraphy contest mentioned in the announcement from the Cam Le District Department of Education and Training stated that the most recent contest they held ended on July 13th, and recently, some individuals have copied the company's content to post on social media for fraudulent purposes.

The company had previously warned many parents about this situation, but many parents still fell for the trap and transferred money to the scammers.
