Today, the country is surrounded by lush greenery, having endured long periods of resistance. Green shoots have sprouted and flourished, with generations of enthusiastic young people setting out to build their homeland. Now, a new era begins as provinces and cities are merged…
July arrives, scattering gentle rays of sunlight across the gourd vines. A lazy cat stretches, slowly making its way into the kitchen. On the porch, chicks playfully chase after their mother, their chirping echoing across the spacious area. These days, people often reminisce about memories, comrades, and the sacrifices and losses of previous generations. This is also a way for the younger generation to feel proud of Vietnam, a country that, through the ups and downs of history, has always been like sturdy pine and cypress trees, fighting for the nation to have a distinctly Vietnamese identity.
July, a month of gratitude, brings with it the changing weather. Each afternoon, the ancient forest before us rustles in the wind, the clear hues of summer replaced by gloomy rain. Yet, the footsteps of young people still stir, preparing for journeys to historical sites, to find the revolutionary landmarks. Long lines of vehicles stretch along the highway, everywhere you see the green shirts of volunteers and the white uniforms of students. They all want to hear, see, and witness firsthand the places where our heroes, uncles, and grandfathers... passed through during the long wars of resistance. To better appreciate this sacred land, marked by a thousand years of history, where the sky of our homeland and nation is present everywhere.
In the cemetery of his hometown, the scent of incense wafts through the air, echoing the sounds of July, as if someone's footsteps are returning to this familiar place, welcoming new beginnings on a wide, open road. I see that veteran slowly walking past the graves, his hand tracing each inscription, his eyes filled with longing as he looks at each tombstone. Those who remain will never forget the days gone by.
The July afternoon was filled with gentle breezes…
