This result stems from a well-structured 2+2 training program, along with the school's support in providing academic guidance, improving foreign language skills, completing application documents, and connecting students with scholarship opportunities.
Scholarships come from serious investment.
Recently, Phan Thao Nhi, a business administration student at the University of Economics , received a scholarship worth nearly 200 million Vietnamese dong from Monash University (Australia), marking the next step in her academic journey in an international environment. Prior to this, Thao Nhi was a full-time international student at the University of Economics, following a 2+2 pathway (2 years of study in Vietnam and 2 years of transfer abroad), with Australia as her chosen destination.
Sharing her feelings about receiving the scholarship notification, Nhi said it was a great joy and a source of motivation for her to continue striving in her upcoming studies. According to Nhi, to win this transfer scholarship, students need to meet two important criteria: a good GPA (cumulative grade point average, assessing students' academic performance over each semester, academic year, or the entire course) and an IELTS certificate of 6.5 or higher. However, grades are only part of the equation; a clear application, demonstrating specific academic goals, and a serious attitude towards learning are the factors that convince the selection committee.
To achieve her goals, Nhi maintained a habit of carefully reading textbooks to grasp core knowledge, while also expanding her understanding through external resources. In an English-language learning environment, Nhi also utilized AI tools to summarize material and clarify complex academic concepts, always adhering to the principle: "Not mechanically copying, but using AI as a tool to help me understand the material better."
At Monash University, Nhi is studying Digital Business, a field focused on digital transformation in business, e-commerce, and leveraging data to create new business models in the digital environment. Currently, Thao Nhi is in Australia, adjusting to her new lifestyle, learning about her studies, and gradually integrating into the international student community at the university.
Building an international learning pathway step by step.
It is known that, with the 2+2 program, besides Thao Nhi, many students from the University of Economics have previously won scholarships such as Nguyen Thai Hoang, who transferred to Ball State University (USA) in January 2023 with a scholarship of $12,000/year; Hoang Van Nam, who went to the University of Hull (UK) in 2021 with a scholarship of £5,000; and Vo Ngoc Duc Thinh, who received a 30% tuition scholarship for two years of study at Swinburne University of Technology (Australia), equivalent to approximately AUD 10,000 - 12,000/year…
According to Dr. Doan Thi Lien Huong, Head of the Department of Science and International Cooperation at the University of Economics, the 2+2 international full-time program, implemented by the university since 2019, is flexibly developed within the standard curriculum system, with both partial and full English programs. Thanks to this, students in strong fields such as accounting, auditing, international business, marketing, business administration, finance and banking, tourism, and e-commerce can gradually build an international learning path that suits their abilities and career aspirations.
Over the past period, the university has built a fairly comprehensive ecosystem of opportunities, including academic scholarships, language support, exchange programs, international scholarships connected by the university, and preferential treatment from its network of transfer partners. Many opportunities are continuously updated, such as exchange scholarships at the University of Calabria, the Mekong-Australia program, the Australia Awards, and exchange internships in Thailand. International partners also maintain many attractive support policies, with scholarship amounts awarded each admission period based on GPA, language proficiency, and student profiles.
According to Dr. Doan Thi Lien Huong, the university supports students from an early stage through its bilingual training platform, internationally-oriented academic environment, and clear roadmap regarding GPA, English proficiency, and transfer applications. This support goes beyond simply providing information; it's a comprehensive preparation process to help students secure scholarships and adapt to a global environment. Based on Thao Nhi's experience, to win international scholarships, in addition to a good GPA and a standard IELTS score, students also need clear academic goals, a serious attitude, a proactive spirit, and persistent self-learning abilities.
Through these scholarships, the school hopes to cultivate a generation of students who are truly globally competitive, possess strong professional skills, excellent foreign language proficiency, are proactive, adaptable, and confident enough to study and work in an international environment.
