Spreading culture

After nearly a month participating in activities and experiences within the framework of the Sejong Project internship program (South Korea) at the University of Foreign Languages (Da Nang University), Lee Na Young had very meaningful experiences. During her internship at the university, Lee Na Young participated in sharing two free cultural classes on "Traditional Media" and "K-Beauty". These classes not only provided useful knowledge but also created a space for community connection, thereby contributing to spreading the beauty of Korean culture in the city.

In addition, Na Young also participated in experiential activities, visited tourist areas and attractions, and learned about the local culture of Da Nang.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Long, Rector of the University of Foreign Languages (Da Nang University), the free classes organized with the participation of international volunteers, attracting diverse students, are very meaningful exchange activities. These are valuable experiences that will help the university continue to improve and enhance the quality of international exchange and cooperation activities in the future.

The implementation of the international internship program further affirms the school's efforts in expanding cooperation, promoting cultural exchange and educational integration, thereby enhancing the school's position in the international environment.

Lingjie Bao, an exchange student from Guizhou Nationalities University (China) studying at the University of Education (Da Nang University), shared that after several months of studying and experiencing life in Da Nang, her Vietnamese language skills have improved significantly. Lingjie Bao realized that studying abroad is not just about acquiring knowledge, but also about learning a way of life, experiencing the wider world through a new language, and having an open heart. In Da Nang, the friendliness of the local people, the dedication of the teachers and friends at the university have given Lingjie Bao a complete and very valuable study abroad experience.

Expanding integration

According to Ms. Ho Long Ngoc, Deputy Head of the Science and Technology and International Cooperation Department (Da Nang University), while member educational institutions welcomed 1,196 international students from 25 nationalities in the 2023-2024 academic year, this number has increased to 1,263 students from 38 different nationalities in the 2024-2025 academic year.

Of these, Laotian students account for the highest percentage (over 40%). Other major nationalities include China, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand (300-400 students each year). Notably, for the first time, students from Canada, Finland, Spain, the Czech Republic, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, Venezuela, Switzerland, and Bulgaria have come to study at Da Nang University, further expanding the map of international student nationalities.

In the 2024-2025 academic year, the number of international students is expected to increase by approximately 5.8%, expanding to include 13 new countries, demonstrating a trend towards diversification of student recruitment sources. International students are enrolled in programs such as: Vietnamese language preparatory courses and short-term Vietnamese language programs; one-year exchange programs and cultural exchange programs; full-time degree programs (undergraduate, master's, doctoral); and internships, surveys, and research.

According to Ms. Ho Long Ngoc, the University of Da Nang strives to create a vibrant, multicultural, and deeply integrated academic environment to attract more students from partners in the ASEA-UNINET (Austrian-South-East Asian Academic University Network), UMAP (University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific), and the Ulysseus (European University Union) network, along with the (new) alliance of global universities.

To succeed with this roadmap, the University of Da Nang proactively integrates into various international education networks, collaborates academically and in research with reputable partners; diversifies and internationalizes its training programs... in order to create educational values that transcend borders and promote global reach.

Recently, Da Nang University organized the "International Student Get-together 2025-2026" with the theme "Inspiring global minds, shaping sustainable futures".

Associate Professor Dr. Le Thanh Bac, Vice Director of Da Nang University, said that every year, Da Nang University organizes a meeting for international students to connect, share, and spread positive energy within the international student community. This is also an opportunity to strengthen interaction, connection, and cultural understanding, and develop friendship among international students studying at Da Nang University.

This helps to spread the image of Da Nang University as a friendly "destination" for learning, research, and creativity. "International students bring cultural diversity, inspire integration for Vietnamese students, and at the same time act as 'cultural ambassadors' contributing to building a humane, international, and sharing academic environment," Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac emphasized.
