On February 5th, Dr. Nguyen Viet Thai, Director of the Northern Quang Tri Regional General Hospital, stated that doctors at the hospital had just treated a case of a fishhook deeply embedded in the neck of a young patient.

The hook is embedded deep in the soft tissue, near vital structures such as blood vessels and nerves.
Previously, NQK (13 years old, residing in Hoa Trach commune, Quang Tri province) was admitted to the hospital for treatment of a neck wound. Doctors noted that a fishing hook was deeply embedded in his neck, causing him significant pain and bleeding. The hook had pierced and lodged deep in the soft tissue, near vital structures such as blood vessels and nerves. The location of the wound was dangerous, posing a high risk to his health and life.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Luyen, from the Ear, Nose, and Throat Unit at the Northern Quang Tri Regional General Hospital, performed the intervention to safely remove a foreign object from the child's throat.

The hook was removed, ensuring the child's safety.
Following the procedure, the patient was monitored, the wound was treated, and preventive care was provided. Currently, their health is stable, and the wound is healing well.
According to Doctor Luyen, accidents caused by fishing hooks can happen during daily activities and recreation. When a foreign object gets stuck in the neck, face, or other dangerous areas, people should not attempt to treat it at home but should quickly go to a medical facility for timely intervention to avoid unfortunate complications.
